Riot have reversed their decision to enable Deadlock for the Americas Last Chance Qualifier, the American Valorant Players Association (AVPA) announced.
AVPA's original announcement clarified that Ascension would be the final event held on patch 6.11. NA GC Series II and LCQ would switch over to patch 7.00 on July 13, a day after Deadlock's minimum restriction period ends.
Deadlock could have been allowed in accordance with Section 4.4.1 of the VCT 2023 Competition Ruleset, which states that agents will be restricted for two weeks after their release on the in-game Competitive queue. Deadlock was released on June 28, meaning July 12 is the latest date by which she could be allowed in the VCT. GC Series II and the Americas LCQ both begin July 13.
However, League Officials have the final say, meaning new agents may be restricted past their minimum of two weeks. When contacted by VLR.gg, an AVPA representative explained the association had confirmed with Riot that Deadlock would be enabled. Several hours later, after a request for reconfirmation, the AVPA announced that Deadlock would not be present in the region's LCQ, but will remain active in Game Changers.
While the Americas LCQ will be played on patch 7.0 without Deadlock, at the time of publishing, Deadlock's status in the EMEA and Pacific LCQs is not public. VLR.gg has reached out to representatives of both leagues for comment.
Deadlock was released with patch 7.0 on June 28, which also launched the new Team Deathmatch alongside an overhaul to the progression system. Her gameplay reveal can be found here.
