stax is the problem

it's undeniable that DRX are getting worse and worse after LOCK//IN, even if they were "saving strats" for some of their games. (losing against TS, letting T1 get two maps, losing against PRX twice???

the issue is stax

he used to be a fragging igl, now he's just an igl
he's getting picked off so fucking early every round
his flashes are shit and it's allowing opers to get easy picks
he's overrotating the team every time. i can't count the number of times teams are getting a free site

i have full confidence that DRX can recover from this embarrassment of a tournament but stax really needs to shape up if they want a trophy this year.
on a better note, BuZz has only been getting better since last year (still has a shit raze) and MaKo is as consistent as ever.

I'm arguing that it isn't stax's fault. They are always well prepped, well coached, and well igled, they just don't have the players to get over the hump. They can win big games here or there but you and I both know their expectation would've been to have at least gotten to one final by now which they've failed to do. I think its a great team but its hard for me to pick them over abt 4-5 teams rn when they individually are behind those teams.

listen i love stax and all the drx guys but you must be kidding yourself if you say that stax has the weakest midrounding out of all the top 5 teams (fnatic loud drx nrg navi) at lock in. stax wasn't the igl till champs and his igling leaves much to be desired.
if they had weak individuals they wouldn't been 4-0 against fpx and one map from beating prime optic and current loud
they have a highest fragging igl in the s tier apart from maybe sadhaak, the best smokes player the world, buzz would be a top 3 jett if his awp was good and rb is one of the best flexes
the reason they lost is a mixture of things
their surprisingly poor trading, messed up roles until champs, poor midrounding, lack of a duelist jett awp, rb underperforming against good teams.

This take sounds smart, but I'm not sure you've really followed DRX since the beginning. Historically, they just get mentally boomed as international tournaments continue. They broke through that hump at Champs and LOCK//IN, so they've got that going for them. But all the analysts consistently agree - they have a crisp gameplan, crisp executes, but once teams see a few of their matches and anti-strat them, they're fucked.

It's the coaching staff. They need more flexibility in the IGLing department, which stax provides, he just needs more time to cook

I know abt their shortcomings, this is just one of them. I still rate stax mako buzz very highly, and I think termi has usually done a good job but probably needs a shake up at an analyst spot. Either way I stand by the fact that of the top 5 teams their individuals, especially zest foxy9 and rb, are much behind especially in big games

sure, but he wasn't good in league play which all drx duelists have historically done, and buzz outperformed him at every point. Maybe he has a d3ffo like turn up but that's usually the opposite of what happens to drx players, mostly rb. Either way that's 2/5 starters being questionable fraggers compared to competition (as in the most elite teams, players like derke aspas crashies leo shao)

Buzz not good on raze?🧢 , You mean Rb raze? I do feel like Stax does get overwhelmed a lot of the times and his mid rounding has not been good. It's like Benkai said they need to stop playing into this structured play style and let the other players express themselves.

BuZz is not good on raze and we saw that last year. I think that's the primary reason why they brought in foxy9, despite BuZz's crazy jett.

I think that everyone is overreacting. Every team will have ups and downs, but DRX has been the most consistently good team in valorant. They have been able to adapt to every meta pretty well. A team isn't “bad” because they're top 8 in the world, they're just not the absolute best.

I don't think they're bad at all, but they've lost their overwhelming dominance in Pacific that they had last year.
From there, they should've be aiming for the best, but they haven't done so.

But they are aiming for the best. As I said, every team has ups and downs. PRX have probably got the most mechanically gifted team in Valorant right now, and the way that they are playing is working incredibly well right now. IMO DRX just run under a different culture which is far more stable and allows for better chemistry than most, but potentially at the cost of having the absolute best players.

I kind of agree, his fragging has been subpar recently. I also consider the fact that DRX’s attack has been super readable lately since they just tend to 5 man execute into sites. They aren’t faking or sending a lurk like they use to do last year, but I’m not sure if that’s stax or termi’s fault.

stax mid rounding and reads are rlly mid ngl, it used to be alright because he could frag out like crazy eventhough he was an IGL but teams have learnt how to deal with this in the current meta so I think its either stax thinks of something new or DRX might not be as successful in valorant as they were in LoL

they lack the firepower. they try to win series by out-strating teams but it only goes so far when you have players like demon1 1 tapping 3 guys on site. That kind of firepower is foxy9 and they need foxy9 in peak form to do well or their strats might become "useless", I feel.
