'Hating' on players

Comments:

If you perform badly, you'll get hate for it whether it's in eSports, sports or other public figure occupation.

I've watched CoD growing up before CS and LoL so I can tell you how much toxicity is involved in the CoD scene where players talk shit to each other not just fans for dropping low kills or 'getting shit on'.

Same thing with almost any sports player or eSports player dropping bad numbers whether they're having a bad day or a good day. Some choose to ingnore and clap back at haters while others choose to be succumbed by it from people they will never meet or talk to.

If you ain't read what's above, just read this.
Whether it's TenZ, Newzera or any other player for that matter if they drop a bad performance, they will get memed about it. We ain't no snowflakes out here, you play well you get praised and you play bad you get called dogshit. Now carry the fuck on!

Kay bro. Diff is traditional sport athletes dont waste time reading online comments like esport players. While esport players, due to their natural working environment and lifestyle , read them a lot

can anyone elaborate on this, what's stopping them from just.. not reading it 😅

can they not just, close their eyes or look away from the screen?

Usually players are also streamers so people will come into chat and they also do social media things to promote their brand in order to create other possible sources of revenue. Either way twitch chat, or social media comments are bound to be seen by them, it’s not as simple as “not reading it”, because although they may not want to read hate comments it’s bound to happen.

I'm not talking about someone going into someone's personal social media and sending hate... I'm taking about some random tom dick and harry on VLR hating on them — they can just not click on the article

kinda inevitable. imagine you try to stream to relax a bit and try to move on, chat blames you during the entire time. tired, you go to twitter, maybe scroll a little bit, and you see +99 dms on the top left corner, even if you don't open it, just from knowing what they were about already tilts you.

there's a difference between criticizing someone's gameplay and downplaying someone's reasoning and explanation for playing poorly.

tenz was FORCED to play, they had no 6th man on the roster who could fill. it was either that or they ff. people are acting like tenz selfishly tried to 1v5, like come the fuck on. hate on the gameplay, don't hate the individual with extenuating circumstances

Guess what we don't care. Players should stop reading comments on a forum about how bad they played when in reality it's a common phenomenon in every eSports.

I'll say it again, you let some randoms on the internet affect your mood and decisions, you need serious help!

#21

Frags

No, if you can't take it we'll don't read it and get upset. While some can't take it others improve drastically because it acts as a motivating factor. You think pro athletes like LeBron would have the same drive without the doubters on the other side constantly downgrading his greatness?

Undeserved? You drop 0.5s and 0.7s that's deserved. You affected your teammate's chances to win. There is a saying in Football, if you're on the field no excuses. Same way if you're playing no excuses!

Easy for you to say that when nobody is scrutinizing your personal and professional life and painting narratives about how trash or washed you are, while your fiance is fighting a terminal illness. I hope you won't ever have to face anything like that in your life cause you all your sigma "I don't care what anyone says" bullshit will crumble. Enjoy your delusion for now.

#50

aint a terminal illness bro and every sportsperson is allowed to be criticised for poor performance just da nature of the game, people bringing up the cancer stuff are weird but tenz' fans had 600 different excuses every week before that news was publicised

I mean a lot of the criticism of Tenz has been going on even before this week before he had gotten sick/injured. It’s just now that he played through it since he had to, the comments that people have been saying for weeks are now being claimed as “just this week” when the complaints have been there for a while

#13

#14

Obviously, people that are going to hate exist but that also doesn't mean it's the right thing to do? I don't get when people defend hate by saying "well it's always gonna happen" like ok but YOU don't have to be a hater. Let other people be negative and spread positivity yourself. You can acknowledge that someone isn't playing well without creating threads to shit on them.

#20

Why the fuck not? it's a balance of emotions for the haters and the supporters. eSports is too soft without the trash talk.

personally, if there is hate in an esports game which affects pro players, I think the game is doing very well. same with CS, LoL, and now valorant. Although it sucks, its a good indicator that the game is growing well.

This . Op is speaking facts. Idk why ppl acting like this doesn't come with territory of being pros. There's gonna be a lot of ppl watching that will see players underperformed and hate on them cause they want to see their team win. It happens in all sort of competition

Also to add on if u let urself get bother by some comments u won't last long as a pro in any esports. Fact is the pros are there and at the end of the day we just talking about them in a forum. I feel like u can critique their play but not trash them as a person or appearance or family. That's when it gets toxic.

#54

One of the main differences is how quickly esports players get thrust into that environment. People who play traditional sports have likely gone up through many levels of the game, with the pressure (and therefore hate) increasing gradually throughout their career, and so are more used to blocking it out. A lot of these players (especially younger ones) have gone from playing in their bedroom to suddenly being watched by thousands of people and being scrutinised for making any sort of mistake.

#59
yoboikingkong
0
Frags
+

while all thats fair, you cant expect audience to change how they feel about the game. if someone watching valorant feels as connected and as passionate as someone watching football, his reactions to the wins and losses will also be around the same spectrum(as audience). its good if a player is able to handle the pressure, hate and criticism otherwise he'll have to learn or eventually quit. coz i honestly dont think the audience will ever be less passionate(or support someone less, or hate someone less). if you cant ignore, that will come on you.

#66

youre right people's passion for watching someone else play a game entitle them to making death threats and all other forms of hate and non-constructive criticism, and anyone who thinks changing the culture of esports to be any less toxic or safer is delusional and should stop being a snowflake, the players have to be able to get shit on by thousands of people just to have a career playing a video game

#60

I'm not supporting OP by any means, but isn't TenZ have a CS career before? also he's been on the val scene from the get go so I think he's already somewhat used to it

but still fked up tho the way ppl hate him, like no one in this world deserves hate and his haters are just mad insane

i agree, hating for the sake of hating and going low to the extent of sending death threats is not what i want or think any person deserves to get. until and unless its to the extent of saying "my player is better than you" , "my team owns your team", "your team's so shit, they dont win anything" all of this is what i include in the "hating" part thats acceptable and part of the game. and i especially dont like and believe in kicking someone when they're already down
