There’s actually many pt players, they’re really really good and I obviously agree on that part, but there is also many of them losing their jobs cause they do not work as regional players in Spain.
Let’s be honest, there’s not gonna be 10 decent Italian and Portuguese orgs nor 50 top players cause foreigners hardly are gonna want to play there
So genuinely wondering to what point this is good
Revelations how tho, teams are gonna play against each other, some might not even have an org, 500 people is gonna watch it and then the winner is gonna flop in ascension cause let’s be honest there’s not 5 Portuguese superstars, just like there aren’t 5 Spanish superstars or whatever and good foreign players are not gonna want to go play to pt due to the lack of investement
Dude Arroz is great but this is off season my friend, KOI almost places dead last during the regular season and most of the players knew they were already out, same for UCAM. And I'm not taking merit away from Arroz they are amazing rn and probably better than all the spanish teams rn but you can't base the level of a region on an off season tournament.
Case roster did not work but it was newly formed, on paper the roster was insane
With time sure, but this does not benefit their already top players, clear example is Rebels for example, whole roster out cause they don’t meet conditions anymore and they are definitely not gonna find better teamates than Vokashu and Gatsh and a better project.
Heartbeat out too and Case had a true superteam contender to win but not anymore, many more cases of this happening and good players losing opportunities, for sure this is good for average pro’s but not for the good ones imo
Well, Tier 3 league Circuito Tormenta was open to everyone and yes Bisons did make a full Spanish roster first split but after that they descended and only who ever deserved it most (Winning tier 3 league) got the spot, and if it was Betis and now KPI is because they were better or Pt teams decided to take different routes
Well yeah, but, so?
I find it very hard to believe that the playing population in Portugal only is similar to the playing population in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark, England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Ireland, Iceland combined. Portugal having their own is OK if they split up UK+Ire+Ice and Scandinavia+Finland into two separate, or just keep ES-PT-IT
I honestly think Riot is emulating the ERLs from League.
ERLs in League of Legends:
Balkans
France
DACH
Poland
Spain
Northern Europe (UK/Nordics)
Baltic
Belgium
Netherlands
Czechia and Slovakia
Greece
Italy
Portugal
Compare it to what we have so far:
France and Benelux
Spain
Italy
Portugal
DACH
Northern Europe
Eastern Europe
Turkey
MENA
Well probably, but I still don't see why UK+Nordics is still a combination that's made since it's literally nearly 100 million residents, with a very significant internet usage and large % of people who play video games, especially FPS shooters, like Val. I have no statistics on player # for Val
But Portugal still get their own?
Riot is eliminating the potential for Nordic players and UK+IRE players visibility in the regional leagues, and that's what I can't wrap my head around
