Champions Importance

How much can we really measure success because of Champions Trophy?

It seems like every year at the end, a sleeper team wins Champions Trophy such as EDG last year and NRG this year.

Top teams that have been consistently winning throughout the year drop like flies towards the end of the year most likely due to burnout from constantly adapting and improving map vetos only to lose to a team that has no pressure and almost 0 antistratting.

Champions trophy in stature is the Majors of Valorant but unlike CS, teams winning the Champions trophy tend to sneakily win after being bad or irrelevant the entire VCT circuit.

Champs should have the same weight as Masters as the favourites just don't win.

Lets have a logical discussion, I am not hating but 60% of Champs winners were non favourites.

unfortunately the top favourites like fnc cannot win champs when it mattered most. fnc hard choked against nrg not once but twice

Neither could PRX or G2 but lets focus on FNC who were on a worse form than them.

No, let's focus on FNC because we all know the only reason you made this post was to cope with the fact that your favourite team lost.

Then why doesn't Fnatic just care about champions like other teams if that's your argument? spend all the energy on champs

Why would we only focus on Champions? You think Vitality just focus on Majors and lounge around in Blast or IEM?

Loud and EG were a justified winner at least...they had a grandfinal lost prior to winning that......While NRG ,EDG and Acend felt less glorious...Lets be honest we all Thought on our head...TH , Gambit and FNC deserved those Champs for the year they had

If Fnatic won Champions:

"How much can we really measure success because of Champions Trophy?

It seems like every year at the end, the best team wins Champions Trophy such as EDG last year and FNC this year.

Top teams that have been consistently winning throughout the year drop like flies towards the end of the year most likely due to skill issue from constantly choking and fumbling map vetos only to lose to a team that has all the pressure and reads them like a book.

Champions trophy in stature is the Majors of Valorant and just like CS, teams winning the Champions trophy tend to deservedly win after grinding and improving the entire VCT circuit.

Champs should not have the same weight as Masters, since its the actual World Championship of the entire year.

Lets have a logical discussion, I am not glazing but 100% of the Champs winners were clutch players that stepped up when it mattered the most."

the worst part about eu fans in particular in this game is how much they whinge and whine and come up with bullshit excuses and sophistry whenever they lose. Prx fans just spam 'we threw, you got lucky' because they're like 12 years old on average, sen fans act tough while crying inside, edg fans send death threats when you claim china is awful but with eu it's like they cope themselves into an alternate universe where they're actually correct about being the best but just kept down by the big bad na fans and the very game itself. Truly a plague.

i completely disagree with this
acend is the only champs that i think fits your argument
for edg, they always had the fire power needed, but s1mon's util usage really brought them to a new level coming into champs. also, just the addition of new talent can breath new life into teams. it also helped that 2024 had really only 2 dominant teams, being geng who did experience burnout by the end, and th who always choke finals. edg really only fell off this year because of interior drama with s1mon and their inability to adapt to the current meta.
as for nrg, this is the only split we have seen this roster perform. they could theoretically be one of the best teams of all time, but we wont know until next year(unless s0m or ethan retires)

You cant be good throughout a year like 2025 with so many meta and map pool changes

I mean I feel like the importance of Champions isn't really showing your team is successful but more because everyone remembers who won champs from 2022 and onward, but the masters winners aren't remembered nearly as well. Like you'll remember Loud for winning in 2022 but will hardly remember teams like FPX.

My biggest take ever is that a champs trophy has the same weight as a masters. People shit on me for the take, but nobody has once ever explained why champs is any harder of a tourney than a masters

#36
shaq_attaqr
0
Frags

it's not about being harder it's about the meaning assigned to it by riot and the players, a major in cs is not harder than the epl currently happening in terms of format or teams attending but everyone knows what means more

#41

i guarantee every masters winning team would not have tried any harder if it was for a champs trophy instead
