How will Bangkok Go (Swiss Rd 1)

Hello ladies and gentlemen of VLR, a couple days ago I did a "how will Bangkok go" However there was only 30 minutes between rounds so that didn't give much time for every region to vote. Now that we have all 8 participants and the first round draw I will be doing the same thing with 24 HOURS in between rounds. So its up to us to keep this forum active so everyone can see it. (Unless Mods/Devs wanna pin this) So without further ado. How will Bangkok go? Swiss Round 2 will begin tmrw at 5 PM EST. Put ur thoughts and reasonings for your votes below, make fun of people you disagree with idk man just do what you can to keep the forum active so everyone gets a chance to vote.

yea ive said before china gets a free 2 weeks of practice/vod review that every other region spent playing. Could do really well the china teams. 2 weeks of being able to change starts and comps so they cant be anti'd

liquid had to play 600 rounds in the lower bracket run against a team that watched all of it (chichoo nats fan)

yea i mean every reigon besides cn got a 5 map grand final so there's plenty of vods to go through and watch. the team that changes strats and anti's are probably gonna do the best

Nah liquid are good enough to do well regardless of the tape teams have on them. Unless theyre honeymooning theyre gonna be the favourites against EDG in my eyes since EDG havent looked very impressive at all

I agree with everything but EDG, they dont look nearly good enough for them to be called favourites and for liquid to be called the upset team. Liquid played amazing on multiple maps with such an in depth strat book. I just think they arent very experienced in BO5s esp against good teams and so they werent able to keep up their form through the finals but that wont be an issue for their Bangkok run
Unless this is just a honeymoon (which i highly doubt), theyre looking much more promising than EDG

VIT 2-1 T1 (T1 has Meteor and Buzz Stax can fuck shit up so they can still take a map)
G2 2-0 TE (Trace plays old meta whereas G2 mastering new meta, no chance)
EDG 1-2 TL (EDG needs to experience more with Tejo besides just Bind and Split, Liquid looking a lot better and shooting)
DRX 2-1 SEN (SEN still struggling with roles mixups like N4rrate on smokes etc, and John isnt great on Sova and seems like Zekken majority on Yoru which is why they lost to G2, DRX is looking strong and confident and free1ng probably best Initiator in the game at the moment, also Mako is Thanos)

Even with an extra 2 weeks of practice it isn’t gonna be enough for TE to make up for the gap g2 has. 2-0 or maybe 2-1 if TE really cook on their map pick

EDG vs TL is probably gonna be the most jail-valorant match of the opening round. But EDG is possibly the most mechanically gifted team in the world. They aim diff TL 2-1

T1 vs Vitality is gonna be a team diff. 2-0 vitality

Sen vs DRX could go a lot of ways. Sen from yesterday should beat them pretty comfortably 2-1. But Sen if they decide to play like they did in the first g2 match loses 0-2. 2-1 sen.

been an EDG fan since east asia LCQ. They've looked incredibly strong domestically since then, but they only made it to top 4 twice in 8 tournaments. champs 24 they had the best neon in an overpowered neon meta, and a brand new map in the map pool (abyss) that a lot of teams didn't know how to play. Yes they brought in simon and changed IGLs so that could've been the move that made them click and they're just a fixture S tier team but I have a lot of doubt til I see them internationally again. For me its 50/50 that they look S tier or look like one of the weaker teams at bangkok.

Vitality have FAAAR more firepower than EDG has ever had. EDG are great but theyre very form reliant and have only ever been exceptionally good during that Champs run and even then id argue it was mostly due to their opponents not being able to match in terms of form with them

i haven't checked the vote but its a consensus pick that TL is #7/8 on power rankings. Idk they're kinda streaky. if they get in good form they could cook.

why tho? cuz its not 50/50?, ofc edg is winning on votes they the current champions maybe they dont win back to back but they aint gonna lose first round imo, specially cuz they had the biggest prep time since their run finished earlier
