which teams? as far as i’m aware only t1 and drg are fluke qualifications. geng beat lev, fpx who had a strong showing, fnatic who they were neck n neck with, an overrated 100t, they shut down g2s momentum because they were crawling rounds which is extremely important (also t3xture went nuclear) you can argue that TH had a weak showing in map 4 and map 5 but it just goes to show you how important momentum is in this game. i get that 100t had fraudulent losses (loud and furia) after shanghai but i don’t think they were the wrong team to qualify

THs run is something most teams cough NRG completely overlook, team chemistry. Hell many people are arguing they would’ve won champs with wo0t on duelist and patitek back even tho I don’t agree with that, they played way better vs EDG and was much closer than vs GENG in shanghai.

an extra game could make all the difference. also they could have potentially played keydstars twice. who knows they couldve just been worst in that specific match up. Also matchups mattered bc at that point in time Envy as never beaten an EMEA team and their masters 1 run, won without beating an EMEA team. Also every team is different all the more reason why this game mattered. Not every team handles loss well. No every team can be like optic losing the first game of the tourney and bounce back, many teams could just lose all confidence and bomb out.

yeah whatever, doesnt matter what could have happened. acend beat multiple teams that tournament and teams better than vivo keyd. you could go into hypotheticals and see a world where acend get eliminated in groups, but thats insanely unfair considering what each team did after that game

but you never know. if they do beat them in the rematch then they play gambit in the first round and gambit was up in the grand finals 2-1 and champs that year didnt have losers bracket so no map veto advantage for grand finals so likely maps in the bo3 would be very similiar

How is Gen.G Shanghai even close to a fluke? Do you even know how much they had to endure to win it?

Crowd was thoroughly against them in every match they played.
Some of the players were suffering from flu.
They couldn't scrim well in China.
They had to battle it out in a tough Swiss Stage, and in playoffs as well.

If anything they fought hard to get it
