kick off with double elim - 2 teams per region, I think somewhere in february
split 1 - 3 teams to Toronto
split 2 - separate from split 1, 4 teams to champs

"Some changes to the 2025 format:

  • Kickoff will now be a 12 team double elim bracket starting in January (top 2 qual to Masters Bangkok)
  • Stage 2 will no longer carry over records from Stage 1, so only the top Stage 2 teams will be in playoffs to qualify for Champions Paris"

Finally they fixed it. They always listen to VLR, I'm glad they read all of our shit.

no circuit points is cool in theory but if it's still just 2 groups then its eh

realistically, the players get paid enough to do 2 x 12 round robin in a year ngl

This years format wasn't a mile off,
To have a proper regional champion, matches against every team in the league have to count, so stage 1 carrying to stage 2 was correct,

The points system helped reward teams that played well over the whole season, people hate that Sen qualified but they didn't actually get any points for the matches they won in kick off, if they had, they would have qualified earlier and easier for champs,

The main issue with this year was some teams went into stage 2 with little hope of qualifying for Champs, so maybe the answer is just bring back an LCQ, or have more teams qualify for the playoffs after stage 2 ends,

Could easily drop the kick off event ay the start of the season and bring back the LCQ after masters 2,

Or even after masters 2, split the regional league into 2, top teams play for regional champs, top 3 qualify for world champs,
bottom teams play an LCQ format, the winner either goes to Champs or plays off against the 4th best team for the final place in world champs.
