Riot reverse course on The Guard ascension

Riot have announced on Twitter/X that the former roster of The Guard The Guard Inactive JonahP Jonah Pulice trent Trent Cairns neT Michael Bernet valyn Jacob Batio tex Ian Botsch have been given the opportunity to find a suitable organization for the 2024 season of the Valorant Champions Tour, reversing a previous decision that denied The Guard a spot in the Americas League.

In the announcement, Riot confirmed earlier reports of The Guard releasing all of its players from their contracts, following the decision by Riot to not promote the organization to the Americas League. The roster now comprising of free agents, as well as the massive public backlash against the VCT organizers for their decision to leave the Americas at 10 teams for the upcoming season, were pivotal to the reversing of the decision.

The ex-Guard players celebrated publicly on Twitter/X, thanking Riot for the new decision, as well as the community for supporting the roster. "The amount of stress and anxiety lifted [off] my/our shoulders is unbelievable," JonahP tweeted. "I can finally breathe again."

So either they stay as a team and get an org to sign them or play for other tier 1 teams. If they want to keep their spot as the 11th team, they would have to stay together and not join other teams right? Sad for the NRG and SEN roster rumors.

That's why they said "probably".

It does perfectly align with Riot policies in the past though (for example when Rise disbanded and FaZe needed to sign three of their players to inherit their circuit points).

and it directly contradicts riot's initial ruling with the guard before the backlash. Every bit of info that leaks out from the esports division implies more and more that the franchising spot belongs to the org not the team (hence FA teams needing to find orgs). Also the announcement makes no mention of any 3/5ths ruling or not. You are again purely speculating based off of events from over a year ago before franchising was implemented.

which was the point of my original comment... The original comment says probably and implies a higher level of confidence than is reasonable for this topic. I took issue with this and pointed out that it was pure speculation (aggressively cause why not its the internet).

Its not common in valorant there is perhaps one example of it actually being used (faze and rise)... regardless the valorant franchising system is completely different from every other existing system with riot paying the orgs not the other way around. Comparing them and then using that to speculate as to riots internal policies that have not been disclosed is silly at best.
