According to George Guesses, the players like vanity and wanted him to stay, so did vanity and the money wasn't the main issue, that leaves the coach which George strongly hinted at.
Rajesh69PaniPuriSeller [#2]yeah i saw vanity stream, its so sad that hes already moved to LA man..
What did he say on his stream?
Netero [#4]Wasn't he his coach in cheater strike?
for a bit. xeppaa leaf vanity were on Chaos EC together.
Mbappe [#8]wasnt vanity the reason mCe even came to C9
real question is why would he kick vanity for a T2 igl that couldn’t even qualify for VCL..
breaking the core of vanity leaf and xeppaa just doesn’t seem like the right move, kicking yay is understandable (mutual decision - yay has a different mindset but has a small agent pool) but i don’t understand dropping vanity.

Bro yay was literally kicked bc of finances. Jack from C9 confirmed it.
zardinez [#11]Bro yay was literally kicked bc of finances. Jack from C9 confirmed it.
my bad bro, still didnt address my point about vanity though! and why would C9 sign yay, AND PAY HIS 1 MILLION DOLLAR BUYOUT, knowing he has a salary the same as the other 4 players combined?? sucks for yay tbh, C9 signed him, dropped him, and now he has little chance of being on a franchised team.

I agree. C9's management has been TRASH recently
yaiima0 [#3]Vanity wasn’t that bad of an IGL tho, maybe they had clashes over the gameplay aspect who knows.
did you even watch icebox against drx? that shit was worse than shahz igling on icebox against TG
Vanity did jack shit to even TRY to counter anything at all against DRX on that map. DRX honestly didnt even play that well, it was just a matter of C9 being extremely readable

There was highly likely something that came out of yay that indicated that he probably didnt want to be on the team. C9 were probably willing to work with his high pay cause they thought the team would be insane but they soon realized that the skill of a player isnt everything and that attitude towards the game has a lot of impact towards all the others on the team
Danny [#12]It’s definitely finances lmao. They wouldn’t kick Vanity for gameplay reasons unless they had a solid backup lined up.
I don’t care how much people undersell him, he’s undeniably at least a top 5 NA IGL (i personally think top 3 but am biased af)
I doubt Vanity costs more than Zellsis, if anything im p sure they knew Vanity just wasnt a good igl. Pretty sure the DRX game was the nail in the coffin for him.
Youre hella biased for him if you watched the DRX match and truly think hes even worth the IGL title
Nisham [#14]Vanity doesn't have the highest salary of C9 so money being an issue there makes no sense to kick vanity.
his DRX performance was telling enough of why he was kicked
Heineck [#17]I have no idea what's going on at C9, but surely this wasn't a decision the team made, there's no way they would sack the IGL 3 weeks before the opening game week, especially since they simply don't have a replacement of the same level lined up
thats cause the team wouldnt be able to make a decision to save their lives. If they cant recognize that Vanity didnt do anything for them in terms of the IGLing then i wouldve also taken it into my own hands and wouldve fired Vanity

I was saying this in sliggy's stream when it was all going down. There was a report on Universo Valorant, a spanish stream with the reporter with Alejandro Gomis(@anonimotum), apparently he is/was(not too sure) a well known league reporter who only reports on stuf that were only 100% true a leak or true, and he joined the call and in spanish basically said that, "hay dos players con los cuales hasta donde yo se, no han estado contentos con el rendimiento. uno ha sido yay y el otro vanity" you can google translate if u want but basically he said, Yay and Vanity have not been with the performance of the team, which already suggested there was internal disagreements. then later on, one of the other people on the show , said that He's known mCe for about 7-8 and talking about how knowing him, he thought that whenever mCe can, "valyn in, vanity out". he used more vulgar words but I'm not to say them here. It was all in spanish, I can show a clip of the first thing he said that I talked about, but I think they deleted the rest of the vod or it just disappeared. But yeh, knowing spanish has an advantage ehehhehe. But on a real note, from this, I kinda already thought that this was the most likely case, Cause vanity salary def couldnt have been THAT high, and after geddess confirming that all the players wanted him to stay, can only leave 1 option.
Also according to that same geddess clip, it seems mCe wanted Yay to stay and the rest, I thought it was a mCe and the team wanted yay to leave but Ig it was all just a money problem and a problem with vanity. Here's the clip for anyone who wants to translate or any spanish speakers.

DRX played well their set util was good but it was first time they brought harbor icebox comp to internationals C9 has no exp against harbor dor they lost vanity was just not adaptable and after drx got hard countered by loud by skye viper harbour.Buzz could not awp whole game
Chow1E [#30]allat ain't readed

spir of the moment maybe? he probably had offers from other teams, and c9 had the chance to have the best player in the world

They won map 1 13-3 vs DRX…
They just weren’t ready for the viper+harbor on icebox
A single bo3 doesn’t define an igl’s career, especially in a new meta… he’s brought 2 different rosters to international lans.
Also don’t forget how he stomped PRX
CorpsePartyyy [#27]Yeah you are biased af 😭 top 3 lmao.
Na lacks many top igls.
He definitely top 5.

I dont get this point since its vanity AND mCe who are responsible for that; a coach can and HAS to pause to add input should the igl/the team be struggling in that department
So if you think that 1 game where the entire team had exactly 0 clue on what to do makes Vanity a bad igl then the same applies to mCe too
Healthy way of judging people for sure

Coach has 2 pauses throughout the game to make a change (2 min total) while IGL has 30+ minutes. Not comparable at all.
zombzino [#32]spir of the moment maybe? he probably had offers from other teams, and c9 had the chance to have the best player in the world
lmao typical Jack, another shithead beside Regi. the guy inlfated the csgo buy out too back in the day

Jack commented on reddit that C9 doesn't actually have financial problems, but implied that they would in the long run if he kept paying yay's salary, which would explain him paying the buyout.

Their map 1 win was completely due to MCEs prep and the fact they had demos on DRX
how did this team get franchising and optic didnt? that core was goated and franchising destroyed that team in so many ways. The best player on that team is a free agent who got kicked after one mickey mouse tourney, the others are haggling and their clutch master is going to a streamer org who focus on content/memes than results. franchising did improve the T2 scene and put some light on it but the best NA team results wise should've been protected in place of C9.
Ailed [#45]Their map 1 win was completely due to MCEs prep and the fact they had demos on DRX
When they’re bad it’s vanity’s fault and when they’re good it’s everybody else
Check your bias bro there’s a reason vanity has been tier 1 the entire time he’s played the game
This is a case of typical lazy NA players wanting to keep their IGL cuz he's not sweaty AF about things. yay is out because he wants to be sweaty AF, not into the loosy goosy style of vanity. vanity is out cuz someone (mCe) in NA finally being a boss and saying u know what, being unstructured is not a pathway to consistent success, so take a hike bye bye.
Good move by c9 to get rid of vanity, sends clear message to rest of the team, who together cost them their best player. Shame c9 couldnt have seen it all coming, or maybe just had wishful thinking that it would get better(hint: it didnt)

Yeah, i remember watching it and saying "JUST CHANGE THE VIPER WALL AND U HAVE LIKE 10X MORE LIKELIHOOD OF WINNING THE ROUND" when DRX were planting top, but the same viper wall was thrown every round and even a lot of analysts picked up on it after the game as well
