Do you think that at some point Valorant will surpass the CSGO audience?
Never, i know i know my name dosen't make me the most credible source.
But rly CSGO has 2 decades of fans
and Valorant made me break my gaming chair in anger.
U pick one, also Valorant is basicly CSGO but you press 1 for smoke instead of lining up a smoke. It's CSGO easy mode.
normally i would say you are right but just look at the numbers csgo is so much harder to get into too and as a highschool student i know that i have more friends that play valorant than csgo and valve is just killing that game anyways it just doesn't look good for csgo rn
Listen if you wanna talk about killing games then shut the Fuck up about CSGO and start talking TF2.
Listen how ever much you think your game of choice is doing bad, you have it easy.
Also csgo takes actual skill, Valorant too takes skil, butl just not as much.
you sound like that one dude from thescore esports youtube that constantly expresses that csgo is 10 million times harder
aka league to what Dota is. that's why league will never overtake dota in popularity and audience size.
it is called sarcasm, i thought it was very obvious but apprently too high IQ to be understood by kids
I mean't in general Valorant won't beat csgo in the long run
but Iceland masters will beat csgo in a few weeks/months whenever it comes out
your basically saying that you know nothing about valorant esports you dont even know when the master is
So you're saying im not a valorant esports fan just because i don't know the exact date of a specific tournement
I feel like it won't be for a long time, but it could happen. CS will continue losing players as long as valve doesn't do a lot of work updating the game constantly.
100% agree. I also feel like Valorant is more public friendly with all the brighter colors and a lot more bigger streamers playing the game.
It definitely is, Val is much easier to advertise for as it isn't about terrorists blowing up counter-terrorists.
Cs isnt losing players and has been growing for the past two years... if the game actually starts to stagnate or even lose players they will probably get of their ass cuz $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
There is just a lot more hype around a game with players like s1mple, zywoo, niko, elige, etc.
compare that to a game where the stars are people like TenZ, ScreaM, mwzera, and cNed. I don’t think valorant will surpass CSGO in views for a while
That's because cs is already old, valorant hasn't had time to create his legends yet
it’s going to take some time for that to happen, that’s why I said “I don’t think valorant will surpass CSGO in views for a while” CSGO won’t always have more viewers, but it will take valorant at least another year to get to that level of hype and new stars
1 year is not a long time lol
if the game is dead within a year, I'd be pretty sad (mostly because I spend a lot in skins xDD)
No cs will always be bigger than valorant unless the Asian scene gets as big as it is in league. That’s the only way for valorant to overtake cs.
good point, but NA in CS isn't relevant at all. The only teams I can think about that compete in pro play is EG, Complexity, Liquid, and I think that's it, FaZe is an international team, and the majority of top teams are from EU or CIS
Valorant is already as big, Champions at the end of year will mark the point of obvious surpassing.
Val can pass CS in viewers but we need to have some major events first (e.g: Masters 2: Reykjavik, Masters 3: Berlin, etc.) and we also need major regions to become interested in the esport like NA and Asia. CS does have a large audience in NA (even tho the esport is dead for us) so for them to shift from CS to val will be harder since they support a game that doesn't support them
It's the same thing as Dota and LOL. Everyone said that Lol is a shit game and never will surpass Dota. Nowadays, LOL is the biggest e-sport. RIOT is huge, believe them.
no matter what, this is riot and their only 1 target is getting the whole scene, i'm a real old dota1 player, but now i'm watching both league and valorant .. riot wants to hold everything in their hands and working real hard for it, on the other hand valve doesnt care about it atleast as much as riot does .. i mean cs go is real important for fps scene but its bcs of the history of game's itself, however next generation is keep coming and they've no dramatic feeling about cs 1.3, 1.5 or go to keep following it.
I don’t think your assumption is correct, people don’t just watch cs because history... barley anyone who played pro in 1.6 is still a pro today. People watch cuz good to watch, easy to follow as a casual viewer, you can go very in-depth and strategical as a hardcore fan
I believe that Valorant will surpass CSGO by Challenger finals, easily... Val has CS doesn't NA support and some EU support so they will have 500k watchers by then ngl
trashpoint per usual, would rather watch fucking beyond the summit production than this, they are on par
What I meant was that by Challengers.... which is basically Worlds... Valorant will average 500k viewers on Twitch which is more than CS
YO 1M on a single channel is CS record valorant might have more total viewers but concurrent is just not happening
what? no no no... he meant 1 million watching live on 1 stream, not the people filtering in and out during the stream.
adding on to what i said on #33, the eleague major itself got ~63 million views IN TOTAL. the most they had concurrent was 1.3 million or something, which is so much more compared to valorant where they probably had ~350k at most concurrent.
For those who thinks it's impossible u guys don't know nothing about Riot. Riot is megalomanic. They want EVERYTHING. They want your soul but u don't detect that yet.
valorant is so much more appealing in every way. if you havent played cs or any fps game in the past, valorant would be picked over csgo, unless youre a boring person. csgo also doesnt get many updates because valve doesnt care. csgo takes way more dedication to get good as well because lineups, spray patterns, boost spots, etc. So, i think with the growing playerbase valorant will surpass in time
it's sad to say but valorant can surpass cs go in nearly every aspect. what riot makes good in games are the cons in other games such as cheats in cs go or 64 tick servers on cs go. with valorant they changed that. 128 tick rate servers, a better anti cheat, easier game (aiming, lineups etc)
and it was same with dota and lol too. dota is way harder and more complex than lol. so riot had seen the potential of the moba and made an easier version of dota.
also riot knows what fans want and they make patches and uptades for them.
and valve has this fatty in a chair named GabeN who updates the game every time there's a solar eclipse and somehow mfs are still attracted to such a person who cares very little about the game they play
it is not easy to convert GabeN worshipper to Valorant (or any other game that is not on steam)
CSGO has a cult following, even if they completely wreck the game (like with current anti-cheat), it will still be popular no matter what. People are in too deep to switch games. You telling someone that who nerd out 1000 hours on learning AK/M4 spray pattern and bunny hop won't translate to other game? They will literally scream REEEEEE and say games that are not the exact same is just inferior because of suck cost fallacy. And if there were to be an exact replica, they will just continue playing CSGO anyway.
Nope,i played csgo for 7k hours and moved to valorant right away after played 1 map, you know why? Because the game is more fun even though the opponent is harder than csgo. My friend also has 2k+ hours in csgo, and they also moved to valorant.
anecdotal evidence doesn't pass for general evidence. Classic logical fallacy
CSGO is getting just as popular as before Valorant come out. THe number of people switching is tiny. And even if they did, they keep playing CSGO as their 'main game' (just look at steamdb player number)
I do agree that CSGO players will continue to play their games, but what about the new generation? Do you feel that the new tactic fps players will tend to play CSGO or Valorant? I would say that the newcomers will play more valorant than CSGO, so if Riot continues to update, in the medium/long term Valorant will surpass CS because the growth of players will be bigger in VAL than CS. Bear in mind that this depends on Valve and Riot not changing drastically their approach to the game
Maybe
I prefer playing csgo to valorant as there's less things going on in the game and it's nice to just sit back and tap heads + the csgo movement and grenades etc are also much more fun imo. Though Valorant is more fun to watch currently, feels like each round is more eventful and there's more interesting things going on in its pro scene
it wasn't meant to be funny (except maybe the first line). Also your reply fail is also kinda cringe
Valorant wins overall. Becuz CS DOES NOT FUCKING CARE ABOUT HACKERS AND ADD SOME CHICKEN BLACK BIRDS INSTEAD WTFFFFFFF.
I've been playing cs from 2004 until 2020, but i stopped playing because valorant is much easier for anybody. And this is the reason why i believe valorant will take over csgo in less than 2 years. I don't think new people would like to play csgo after knowing that csgo is hard to play and also full of hackers.
It really depends. I'm not saying it's impossible, but it would be really hard for Valorant to overtake CS in Europe.
The real question that will determine whether valorant can overtake CS in pure viewership will be the rise of the Asian scene. CS is too strongly rooted in Europe, yet Asia looked towards other games primarily, and is the world's biggest gaming market.
If Asia gets big on the bandwagon, then I could see valorant surpassing CS. Timing is unclear. I suppose we'll be able to see it evolve and make a more educated guess when Reykjavik, Berlin and end of year major happen.
difference between CSGO and Valorant is that you dont see variety streamers (like Pokimane, Sykkuno etc.) playing CSGO, but they will play Valorant from time to time. The game is more catered for casual (and that's fine). This is what is needed to help the game grow. But those people are also usually the ones care less about esports side of things.
