Yeah, imo, it's two teens that don't know how to be mature about their situation but are given a platform. This is lowkey exactly the type of stuff that happens in high schools (as in people breaking up going scorched earth with each other because that's how teens handle relationships I suppose), which is not that shocking since both of them are high school students, but because the people involved have a platform, everyone is giving their two cents about it and thus are dividing people on the issue.
I feel like you missed what H3ENnZ and I said. Although, looking back on it, it is misleading that he didn't mention the r joke, but the racist stuff WAS from years ago. We're not acting like that specific joke was from years ago; he said something about the racist stuff, darkog__ asked for clarification about when that was, and I thus responded clarifying the racist stuff was from years ago (and gave a specific age range) but we didn't deny that the other stuff in the relationship was recent (in fact, I did clarify that, although I admit that I should've emphasized the severity of that and I do apologize for not emphasizing that). There is a lot more to the story besides that one joke now, so I, at least, was specifying the timeline for those.
If the world actually worked this way then a substantial percentage of schoolkids should be terrorists, rapists, serial killers, and neo nazis by now. Edgy jokes are extremely commonplace, and unless he actually shows a real indication of wanting to assault someone past a clearly non serious conversation it should be treated as weird joke, not as a credible threat. I'm not saying this type of joke is ok or anything, but you are clearly overreacting.

i never said it was a 1-1 ratio that they become it. but thats the way it usually starts. why wait until theyre older to tell them, no its not a good thing to do that. you have to teach them as a kid lol. but youre saying its normal. you dont know if hes joking or not. it was entirely random and out of the blue in that conversation. how is that not credible? is it an overreaction to not want rape jokes to be normal? really. i dont think his ex took as a joke. its not a funny thing lol.
Yeah, I would typically agree, but (at least in America) the stuff that cane said is tamer than stuff I've heard around middle school students (this is not hyperbole) in the modern day (source: I had to unfortunately go to my cousin's elementary). Unfortunately, the accumulation of lazy parenting (of parents just slapping an unregulated device onto children) and the misogynist sphere that rooted itself in the younger generation has led to kids like this. It's sort of an echo chamber that is hard to fix, since no matter what good parents do, the unregulated children will influence the others. I think, that given the political/social climate of America and how impressionable the younger generation are, we have to give cane some slack. I don't think he is right at all, but we have to be more nuanced about this than "cane good" or "cane bad."

America happened to canezerra wherein the American politicians since America's inception have constantly engaged in war crimes towards others and their people have supported them but still tweak out when they hear some racist joke by an edgy 12 year old. ( This is satire for those who don't get it, I don't mean to say that racist jokes aren't bad but surely there are better things to worry about then a teenager hard trying to be edgy and cool cause that's what he thinks is cool )
