Valorant doesn't have top tier English casters. Bren/Sideshow and Panpoc/Hypoc are closest, but I wouldn't even consider those top tier in all of esport. Honestly Valorant esport is really lacking in terms of talent. Its overall pretty mediocre compared to games like LoL and CS and honestly is even behind some others.
Even outside of the official talent LoL and CS has likes of Caedrel and ohnePixel while Valoran't closest is like tarik. Holy...
In what world? CS has multiple casters that are considered top tier. Valorant doesn't have single clear one. Some like Bren, Sideshow, Pansy, Hypoc but you can't really call any of them iconic. And this comes from someone who followed Overwatch League (Bren, Sideshow) since day 1. Uber was arguably the best single caster from Overwatch.
And don't get me wrong I like these casters, but considering that they are the best Valorant has and the gap between them and rest of the duos is very noticeable just tells me that the quality of Valorant casters is relatively low. Both CS and LoL have better "star" duos and still have good 2nd, 3rd and even 4th duos.
Firstfully who can consider CS casters are top tier? There is no comission or if it is, I'll be glad to know about it and be wrong. But my second point is Val casters can't be iconic because this game is still "new" if we talk about whole esports, at the meantime in cs some casters like casting 10 years, ofc they are iconic, but I remember so many unprofessional commentary in cs:go, because sometimes they just talk what they want and don't care, but in valorant rules are followed more often imo.
But anyway we understand that casting it's just background and it's existing because watch game without casters bored asf, and there is no point to be professional like in human sports. Some comments can be High-quaility but newbies don't understand that and just don't pay attention, that's why casters talk even with agents utility full names, when many pro didn't know these names. (sorry for bad english, I'm not native)
Well there is no definition, but point that many of these casters are well known within the esport scene and even by people who don't follow these scenes. Think about guys like Machine, very well known and respected(even if you don't know him). Valorant casters on average are more unknown and less respected outside of the game. And I don't know about professional when you have guys like Tom and Mitch just laughing and making everything look like comedy. And feels like new casting duos are formed every month or switched around. Genuinely feels like each region has 1 professional duo and rest are just there to fill. In my opinion Valorant casters on average sound bland and bored.
And yeah I get it, but casters do have impact. In Valorant casters truly are just background noise. In CS and LoL they add energy and are way more important part of the broadcast. And yes CS has more LANs so it helps, but even LoL does better job IMO. And yes it is newer esport, but feels like they are not even trying to improve.
This is just my opinion, but has been my take since the start. I have always thought lack of good casters is big issue. And this comes mainly from EMEA perspective. When casters make the teams and players look like total jokes they aren't doing good job.
I do, but Sliggy is nowhere close to Caedrel or ohnePixel. His costreams are good, but they are very very different in terms of vibe and hype of those two. Valorant doesn't have single strong personality with same amount of impact, community and overall image. Tarik being the closest, but at the same time so far away.
