Banger story idea

Hear me out on this, a murder mystery about a detective hunting down a serial killer who leaves him cryptic messages and the plot twist is that the killer is the detective who has split personality disorder. Fire no? thought of this randomly during a boring class, I might be a genius.

holy shit that's detective Pardo from hotline miami. basically the entire city of miami is following cryptic killers in masks, who would just barge into the Russian mafia points, kill everyone there and disappear. some people a few years later who are "fans" of those killers go on the same spree against the Columbian mafia. meanwhile, the detective Manny Pardo says that they are just lunatics, and that the case of the Miami Mutilator is way cooler.

ngl split personality has become pretty popular for a twist. and also if it only relied on this it'd be easy to spoil. i'd be curious as to what you come up with though.

Could be really good, but also quite hard to implement perfectly. You'd have to drop tiny clues and signs along the way of the story without having it be too predictable. Great concept tho.
