EMEA falldown

I watched the 2023 Tokyo Valorant Grand Finals between EG and FNC, and it hit me—EMEA was once so dominant in Valorant. It felt like a reminder of the golden days when teams from that region ruled the scene, and Fnatic was one of the best. The intense match brought back those memories of when EMEA was the powerhouse. The strategy, the execution, the individual brilliance—Fnatic's rise to the top was a story of dominance and resilience. Watching them battle EG in the grand final, I couldn't help but think of how far EMEA has fallen since then.

It's been over a year since the region's performances have been consistent with that level of excellence. The shift in the meta, roster changes, and other teams catching up have made EMEA look less invincible. Still, that tournament reminded me that it wasn’t always this way. The glory days of EMEA’s dominance in Valorant might seem like a distant memory now, but those moments still have their place in my mind. It serves as a reminder that the region was once a true contender, even if things aren’t looking as bright right now.

0/8; EMEA was never dominant, the revisionists are back at it again saying that one team doing well somehow makes that entire region good.

emea was definitely dominant in 2021 champs. 4/5 top 5 teams were emea

and from the period of masters berlin to masters tokyo the trophies were distributed
emea: 5
na: 1
brazil: 1
apac: 0
cn: 0

Please read what I wrote again. One team doing well =/= region doing well.

Bro also deliberately excluded Masters Reykjavík lmao, for no good reason.

EMEA has had a good team every year. Gambit in 2021, yes at champs 2021 EMEA was dominant with Gambit & Ascend, FPX 2022, Fnatic 2023, TH 2024.

In the past three years, EMEA has been a one team region at best. This is not difficult to understand. Outside of Heretics in 2024, no EMEA team was good. Outside of Fnatic in 2023, no EMEA team was good. Outside of FPX in 2022, no EMEA team was good. Fin.

can you read xdd

at 2021 champs 4/5 top teams were emea 💀 i said that and you mustve missed or ignored it. it was a direct reply to what you said and now youre just rephrasing your original reply like i didnt address it already

also the reason i excluded masters reykjavik is to stress that there was an era of emea dominance. a period of 7 events of which emea won 5. didnt think i needed to explain that 🙄

My reply to you said "yes at Champs 2021 EMEA was dominant"

One tournament in the first year of pro valorant. Not for several years like the original post, or like you tried to say in your reply to me. You continually ignore the point of EMEA being a one team region for the past 3 years, but whatever. You try to shift the goal posts of the conversation to ignore the points you don't like.

Whatever. It's clear that you're baiting, so good job I guess.

it's dishonest to edit your previous comment to address something I said in reply to you, without clarifying that you made an edit. That's pretty self obvious.

one tournament =/= period of dominance.

one team =/= entire region

That's it.

2021: GMB, ACE, FNC, TL were all S tier teams that had all beaten each other multiples times during the year (2 Trophy winners, 1 finalist, 2 top 4s). G2(EU) also got top 4 during Berlin.
2021: 4.5 or 5 team region

2022: FPX(NAVI), FNATIC were S tier teams with TL, G2, GUILD all having good moments (top 4s/top 6s/top 8s).
2022: 3.0 team region

2023: FNATIC was an S tier team with NAVI, TL, FUT (and even GIANTS) putting up good placements (top 4, top 6, top 8).
2023: 1.75 or 2.0 team region

2024: TH, FNATIC were S tier teams with KC, FUT having good placements. EMEA dominance over AMERICAS was prevalent this year
2024: 2.25 or 2.5 team region

from the first out of five trophies won (Gambit Berlin 2021) to the last out of five trophies won (Fnatic Tokyo 2023), AMERICAS only won 2 trophies (one was also stolen due to FPX(EU) having visa issues in Reykjavik).

Holy revisionism LMAO.

2024:
-EMEA got grouped at Madrid.
-Fnatic won no games in Shanghai, FUT got to playoffs off beating DRG & a struggling LEV and only beat Fnatic in playoffs, only TH with the podium finish, and it took them 3 tries to beat G2. 100T & G2 cleared the rest of EMEA.
-Champs: Fnatic, after not winning any international games for the whole year, finally got 5th/6th, losing to SEN.

In what world is that a two team region. Heretics was the only good, consistent team from EMEA in 2024.

2023:
Fnatic won Tokyo & Lockin. Navi got 3rd/4th at Lockin. Navi proceeded to get grouped at the next two tournaments, and FUT bombed out of playoffs at champs & Liquid only ot to playoffs in Tokyo because of seeding given to them by Fnatic. They got first rounded at champs.

Fnatic was the only good EMEA team in 2023.

2022:
FPX was a consistently solid team. Fnatic had a singular top 4 placement, and then 5th/6th. Fnatic in 2022 was not a serious contendor. None of the other EMEA teams are even up for discussion.

FPX was the only good EMEA team in 2022, and you could maybe argue Fnatic were half decent.

In the past 3 years EMEA has been a one team region. EMEA did well in 2021. That's it. There's never been this multi-year period of EMEA dominance. That's a myth.

So we're just cutting out masters reykjavik where SEN swept the entire tournament without dropping a map?

its not to say that sen didnt win anything meaningful

just to stress that where was a time where emea was the best region (winning 5 events in a 7 event stretch)

It is also worth mentioning that at tokyo demon1 came last minute because of visa issues, so they were scrimming with REFORMED the whole time and the whole tokyo game plan was around him. They changed roles and everything, and EG were still so damn good and able to make it to the finals. And then they went ahead and won the champions. 2023 EG is the best team of all time.

Good point, thats true we where good for 3 years, we also have to keep in mind that last year Heretics is in final twice, we are not as bad as people says, EMEA was trash at this event ? No worry, everyone can be bad at some point, next master may be too early, but we will come back stronger at champions !

Back before Franchise when Valorant is divided by Major region (america & emea) and Minor region (pacific & china). Now it is just a history
