What is an interesting hobby you have that isn't related to a computer / screen?
What is a current in-person relationship you have that isn't at the point you want it at, and what do you want to do to improve it?
Are you at a point in your life you at comfortable with, if not, why?
Imagine you meet yourself from 5 years ago, what do you think you'd want to ask yourself? How would you respond?
my girlfriend started learning the guitar and I wanted to join her so she got me a bass for christmas. I have been learning it since and it's super fun! I see her playing guitar and it looks way harder so I'm glad I chose the bass instead, especially since my dad plays the bass as well. I'd recommend it, I've just been dong it for an hour almost every day in the mornings before I head to work to relax and enjoy music
my dad was in a band in his college and later years but quit because he didn't make it very far. he still is good friends with his bandmates and they meet up every month to play and have fun. I've seen some VHS tapes of him playing at some local venues, very fun to watch! learning something with someone is the best way to go, I hope you find someone who is interested in a good hobby for you to enjoy together
Wow. Would you say your dad is a cool guy? I think cause he plays the bass he must be a cool guy but I mustn't make assumptions. Even if i dint make it far i'd still want to perform though because it must be an experience though i guess it:s not very sustainable. Must cost for venue slots ig
The worst part about learning something with someone else from my experience is that you seem way more invested than they are. For them it's like a side thing that they wanna do once a week but you wanna do it everyday. Then they lose motivation because you grow faster. How do you avoid that? Kind of annoys me :()lmfao
Yeah haha my dad is cool, I got lucky with very interesting parents. I think it's all about just finding the right person unfortunately and understanding that you will go at different paces. Because my girlfriend has much more experience with instruments than me (she played the Viola in High School) I really had to catch up physically on hand dexterity and memorization of notes. She was very patient though and I never gave up because I knew she'd appreciate my progress either way, and I'd enjoy seeing her progress. This has generally worked with friends too, you just have to find people willing to accept your progress and you accept theirs. Sometimes it's not about the effort and motivation but rather just how talented someone is and how much time they have to put into something, and it's okay to be at different starting levels and speed of learning. Getting good at something with someone is about enjoying each other's progress, not comparing each other.
I read most of the manga I ended up picking up physically on my phone before buying them. I think I phrased my question mostly to block people saying "video games, youtube, netflix" but didn't consider something like reading or maybe something informational. I think reading is good whether physical or on a screen
