Riot killing SEA?

The convergence of the various SEA challengers league into a singular challenger league is killing SEA teams plus the fact they sold the rights to soop, these guys at riot are genuinely fucking dumb and don't care about anything it seems like, especially that fraud Leo Faria ( I am slandering him as he is head of valo eSports so all eSports decisions go through him) , a lot of SEA teams have just withdrawn themselves from this league as a result of the SOOP thing as well as because of the lesser spots, the spots in challengers SEA is I think like 12 which is crazy considering this region consists of Indonesia, thailand, malaysia, singapore, vietnam, hongkong, filipines , that's a crazy number of regions together and only 12 spots?? Riot should have rather made into 2 different sea leagues with 12 spots each league , this would have been so much better for riot as well.

Edit - The slot distribution is made worse by the fact that vct teams also have academy teams taking up a good 3-4 of those 12 spots , crazy....

It's not just that bro everything is falling apart nd unfortunately it's due to franchising model.
Now Tier 2 isn't worth it for fans , org anyone bcz everything goes into VCT. If anyone is still competing it's either bcz they hv lots of passion nd money for this game or they believe they are going to be ascending next year to VCT nd when they don't they also close down

It's not that Tier 2 of most places are fun but Japanese are most loyal nd dedicated and that's why they put up numbers even in their Tier 2 which in turn means better production, better players nd better everything. I am worried even this would not go on forever especially if Tier 1 teams of JApan start performing

It is still worth for fans in other regions though, since it is getting more competitive with more orgs entering or players getting better. Plus tier 2 has some insane team comps.

I understand all that I personally watch Indian T2, NA T2, even SEA T2 when I get time but I have been watching since 2021 and back then lot more people watched bcz matches had more meaning you know.
Now split 1 is just for prize money and that's not fun to watch for most people and obviously most people want to watch the very best and that's always going to be VCT .

after reading all these posts and links:

Most leagues in SEA were not sustainable in terms of finances and level of competitive teams as shown in every VCT Ascension apart from ID/SG/TH.
RIOT thought the merger of SEA would enhance the level of competitiveness from more minor regions and when SOOP came in with money to buy the rights, RIOT approved them.
SOOP now has exclusive rights, meaning 1 of the reasons RIOT chose to merge the region is not solved but got pretty much worse.

tldr: RIOT tried to be smart and fumbled HARD.

I understand what they tried to do but as I said if they wanted to reduce costs as the various leagues were a nightmare to maintain, then they should have made it into atleast like 2 SEA leagues with 12 spots each, thus each region gets like good enough spots for their teams to participate, also that SOOP thing is dumb man, u shouldn't give rights because they are throwing I extra money

academy teams taking up a good 3-4 of those 12 spots

This will apply to ALL splits too. Academy team is permanent slot and can’t be relegated to challengers and no longer required to re qualify to SEA in future split. Only downside is they can’t qualify to ascension.

Only SEA Region can destroy KR team, thats why they(RIOT) decided to destroy SEA region. So KR Team can easily DOMINATING APAC. They make vct APAC in Korea to increase korea's tier2 strenght cause they can SCRIM againts t1 team. Thats why kr t2 team look so good in 2024, but when you look at ascensions 2023 their t2 can talk much cause you know they are not that good

I know you feel bad, but stop with the conspiracy theories. Globally, Tier 2 is unprofitable and in the red, and SEA is even worse. According to the rumored contract, SOOP will cover 100% of the operating costs for 4 years. If someone offers to buy you a rock for $100, why wouldn't you sell it?
