What is going on with Tier 2?

Sin Prisa Gaming got acquired by Nongshim Redforce, which in case anyone isn't aware, is a team that is in the League Of Legends Korea Tier 1 League. This means that (presumably) Riot likes the org and the team will be allowed to play in VCT under that banner.

With this signing, and the signing of The Guard, Leo Faria and the entire Riot esports decision to not allow spots to be purchased in the VCT seems to be less and less like a loose farce than an actual ruling.

If orgs can get into bidding wars after the Ascension Tournament ends for who can pay the most for the player's salaries, then how is that any different from buying a spot themselves, except the fact that Riot gets no money through this roundabout way of purchasing a franchising slot, and it's done behind closed doors?

i assume SPG can't do much since they are not a big org and don't have a lot of work force. their owner is their coach.
so instead of getting rid of the team and not ascend them, selling the spot while retaining their lineup roster is kinda the right decision.

Well those are case are kinda weird, like yeah you buy the slot but everyone want to see the player play, it’s either they respect the rules and don’t allow the players to play or allow an org to buy the players and get them to play, the later seems way better for everyone, because everyone is winning

They're not a real org. The former Overwatch coach Mobugi pays their salaries at his own expense.

To some extent, this is true, but Riot may have changed its mind after seeing total fraudulent orgs like Bleed. Riot have always prioritized stability.

Additionally, G2 was still viewed with suspicion by Riot due to the Ocelote at the time of the TGRD acquisition. On the other hand, literal behemoths like NS are the organizations Riot trust the most.

The distinction is that the former org doesnt get anything out of it

So with this the only one who "profits" from the slot being reallocated is the players
This changes the dynamic between Riot and the Orgs (they dont "own" anything since they never payed for it) and also means that theres no reason for an org to ever transfer the slot voluntarily

You also cant forget that Riot is still the one picking the "whitelisted" orgs from what we know; they are still fully in control of who they let in
(Thats why youll only see current t2 teams get the slot for example)

(Also isnt this NS buying SPG or am I misunderstanding whats going on?)

you are over-analysing this. SPG wasn't an "org" so it was possible for NS, so it isn't the case of "rich org buying smaller org for a spot in franchsing", but more like "actual org takes over a group of players and the coach".
