too many people are blinded by the fact that it was a good grand finals to realize that the overall tournament was ass. Single elimination at the beginning of the year????

The same teams were present as in all the Masters and Champions events, plus a few extras.
it's a tournament to celebrate the start of franchising, calm down bro...........
Well what would you expect ? Regional ? Lock//in was good to introduce franchising bc we got match-ups we would never have again
Drx vs loud
Nrg vs loud
Introduction of franchise system
Bottom and mid table teams having a chance to play internationally
One of the most hype crowds
Good viewership
this isn’t even bait though, this is a response to people on twitter getting angry that a content creator said that lock//in was mid
it’s definitely a fun tourney but should not replace an actual masters. even riot doesn’t consider it on the same level.
they should however add a lock//in to the 2 masters and champs we do have.
it is simultaneously the most mickey mouse trophy of all time, and the most fun tournament of all time
Best tournament of all time
High stakes
One of the best BO3's of all time (NRG v Loud) and the best BO5 of all time
Whole point was to showcase all of the VCT teams and without single elim it would have taken forever. And tbf the finals was between the 2 best teams at the tournament and the best won it.
Not even just the finals, arguably the best teams made playoffs (fpx Core, peak DRX (imo, and by results)). the OPTC core also were just shy.
All of the top 5 teams deserved to be in the top 5 imo.
for the teams I just mentioned, these are the results at Champs 2022:
LOUD - 1st
OPTC/NRG - 2nd
DRX - 3rd
FPX/NAVI - 4th
FNC - 5/6th
Sure there were changes but the cores stayed intact. I think it's further proved by the fact that Fnatic went on to win Tokyo.
I genuinely think the LOCK//IN mickey mouse narrative was started by some NA baiter and it caught on because of the inherent NA bias from them being the bigger region.
DRX/NAVI deciding the 3rd placed team by rock paper scissors just shows that it was the most "fun" tournament. 32 team international event is something we wont get to see again in the near future :(
Single elimination is the goat format. it's what all the biggest sports and esports use.
valorant is the only one still using a shitty double elim
Literally every partnered team took part in it. It's the least trophy you can call mickey mouse. But look at Masters Madrid for example, where 8/44 teams took part only.
You had to qualify to make it to Madrid, and the prize money there was even higher 😹😹
Lock In was the biggest Mickey Mouse tournament of all time.
As usual, NA fans( especially Sen fans ) calling Lock in as a mickey mouse tourney. They have been triggered since Sinatraa called Madrid as Mickey mouse tourney.
Single elimination>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Swiss system
Lockin was Goated.
I thought it was nice to see the strange match-ups that we would not see normally. It had one of the best grand finals. Maybe it couldve been double elimination to make it more forgiving. Either way I don't get how people get so aggressive over this kind of debate. It ain't that deep lil bro
It was an insane tournament and I think NRG woulda won if only we didn't choke vs LOUD. We definitely ain't choking a 3-11 lead lol
