I still can't wrap my head around them losing again. Like they literally scrimmed year round with franchised teams while 2G didn't even had 1/10 of the resources m80 had yet they lost??
m80 losing is good, these T2 superteams winning isn't a good thing, because they're usually made up of old players who already have huge T1 experience yet failed.
2g is fresh brazillian talent, which is the thing americas needed the most. great for the esport
also to ur original point, m80 suck dick and 2g have better mental
It's about pressure problem maybe? like M80 literally felt cannot lose for the second time. As for 2G, They're farming as joyful as they can, knowing that ascension is not just about winning, but it's also about exposing yourselves to Tier 1 league.
I pretty sure can see 1 or two of 2G's roster get picked up by AMERICAS next year or two years at least as they develop their talent in the pool, if they were not qual, which they were. T2 is all about development and exposure right? winning and qualifying for T1 from a single run is just one of the parts T2 consists of
Its not that shocking considering the factors.
M80 lost their 2 comfort maps in Ascent and Lotus, which they played alot of in split 2.
2G heavy anti'd them on sunset both times.
Haven was a toss up bc 2G hasn't played it all year and pulled a very unconventional comp.
M80's bind apparently was never super good
Both teams are pretty even imo, different day, different map pool who knows the result?
I considered it a toss up bc 2G haven't played it all year (ascension and both splits) so it could've been good or bad. If 2G played the meta comp, yes 80-20 for M80 bc its what they scrim against. However, 2G pulled the iso/yoru which is a hard comp to play against, which brought it back to 50/50 for me
I think a lot of people are REALLY overhyping 2G. Sure they beat M80 and qualified for Franchising but the road they took to get here was literally paved by other teams. They qualified for the Ascension league by getting third place in both Brazil VCL splits, did not win a single regional and qualified for Ascension on points alone, and then barely qualified for playoffs because TSM lost to All Knights.
Remember this when they become another bottom-tier Brazil team in Americas. They went on a run and hit form at a good time, but it will not stand when they get pummeled by the top Franchising teams.
