would it make sense to be like the premier league and relegate 3 teams at the end of each season?

this would let you bring 3 up from ascension making it seem worth it for orgs to stay in valorant and t1 teams will try and field the best roster.

I actually like this idea. Number would definitely have to be smaller because VCT leagues have 12 teams and the EPL has 20, but the idea's there

Franchising prevents it, the whole point of Franchising is that there is no relegation. This change turns it into a league and that in turn makes it less profitable for investors

This is sort of what we're gonna get in 2026, by then all ascension teams will be on the 1 year contracts.

ofc this only applies to non partnered teams, I'd like to see a way for this to happen to them too but it might be unrealistic

But that is nowhere near relegation, it's just forcing the tier 2 teams to work like crazy

Either franchising would need to be scrapped or they would need to increase the total number of ascension slots per region. Personally I'd rather see the latter because that would make ascension actually mean something & is more realistic

1.) won't work cause orgs like c9, eg, mibr etc. can't save money while relying on riots paycheck
2.) won't be too popular with franchising teams cause they lose their piece of the pie

I meant it more as increasing the number of teams that can actually ascend, so instead of 2 it goes to 4 = 14 total slots per region. the teams already in franchising still get the same benefits, and the ascension teams don't exactly get the same rewards anyways

I doubt they would get the same benefits because they lose a part of the revenue

RIOT is still paying them bank to be in the league, they still get revenue from the capsules, and the prize pools from winning would be the same. Even if RIOT reevaluates the amount of money they pay as financial incentives it would still be a fuck ton of money, especially if they keep raking in viewers, investors, and sponsors because of said increasing viewership

To me every T2 league should be 16 team, so more team can be relegated without to mush lack of stability, plus it allows structure to be more sure they don't be relegated (We can also do a partenering for some T2 team but... Not sure if it's a good idea), ensure diversity inside the league, and it's a huge win.
