I heard kang kang got the mvp bracelet for champs, kinda sucks for chichoo and smoggy
It feels like flashy players and duelist players always get more credit than consistent impactful players, sure kang kang was the grand finals mvp but smoggy and chichoo were way better throughout the tourney
Edg never would have made finals without those two

Even going back to masters Reykjavik 2021, tenz’s peak was incredible but shahzam nearly put up the same stats while igling which is bonkers

A lot of people used to glaze Aspas when loud won despite him being the worst player when they won champs, didn’t give pancada less and sacy their credit during champs 2022

If u watched the game Jawgemo was more impactful, he got many more kills, first engagements and 280 ACS in 4 maps, rating values low deaths too much

His overall tournament performance wasn’t even close to chichoo or smoggy, he wouldn’t have the chance to play that well in finals if they hadn’t brought him there
That’s why he’s the finals mvp and one of them is the tournament mvp imo

in champs groups smoggy was their best player
in champs as a whole chichoo was the best player
in the gf kk was the best player by a landslide (making him the best player in playoff by technicality cuz gf he was that good it boosted his previous stats)

depends what metric you wanna take it by. Its kk > chichoo > smoggy

His grand final was the best performance I’ve ever seen out of any player. With how they decide the mvp now it’s almost guaranteed the grand final mvp is gonna win mvp

I mean kangkang played well the entire tournament, and then had the greatest single performance ever in the biggest moment. It's ok to acknowledge the other player's performances as well, as they deserve the credit, but to act like KK only performed in the GF is wrong. He had a good tournament even excluding the GF, that was just the icing on the cake.

Actually, excluding the grand finals kang kang didn’t mvp any series and barely had a 1 rating
Watching the matches, it clear smoggy and chichoo were the standout players for the whole tourney minus the finals

not MVP'ing a series does not equal playing like shit, nor does a 1 rating or whatever lol. If you watch the games, he solo won them rounds, and most importantly fulfilled his role of entrying, led the tournament in first kills per round and total. If you think he played bad outside of the GF, then you don't know what you're watching simply put. He had like a B grade tournament, and then an A+ GF.

I can agree to that, but the gap between KK and everyone else in that server during the BIGGEST match of the year was too wide for him to not be mvp, especially since he played well up until that point. I believe if he didn't break records, Chichoo would have won mvp and it would have been rightfully so. But a performance like that has to be acknowledged, he was +40 like cmon. Idc what anyone says, playing like that in GF is more important when considering an mvp than being good across a whole tournament. This whole thread is downplaying it, we literally haven't seen anything like that before, and even if he was shit all tournament, if he played like that again he would still deserve mvp. S/O Chichoo and Smoggy tho lol

It is the most important match

Just underplaying the performance, it wasn't just incredible, it was the best we've ever seen statistically (and optically, imo) and it happened in a grand final. There quite literally has never been another performance like that, so how exactly is it easier? Cause I can name like 5 great full tournaments from players just this year.

kk only had a poor group stage his rating is 1.10 without the gf and smoggy had a 1.02 rating in playoffs. Smoggy was a groups merchant sorry to say.

Playoff (yes gf) kk > chichoo > smoggy

the most important stats are gf and playoff. in both kk topped in edg (he has also been the clear best player all year round)

Tbh MVP is just an aura test. You see the ones that get MVP usually radiates the most aura just look at some of the people that should have gotten mvp: Tenz, nats, aspas, demon1, and now kangkang.
