Zekken and Tenz diffed them even when they lost 2-1. Same with Heretics they diffed everyone even when they lost.

sen fans the only fanbase that cares about diffing when it means absolutely nothing

When you talk about Goat you need to have that conversation.

1v1 performance in a match given certain aspects that influence it, absolutely doesn't matter

you could have keiko diffing zekken doesn't mean a thing zekken will always be better

He will be contender for sure. He gave us insane plays last year but unlikely his team wasn't able to adapt and this year they improved with him.

#18

Down the line he can be a contender, but let's not call it early. Champs winners have a habit of falling off pretty hard or just disbanding

Man y'all trippin you already called demon1 the goat before he even became a trophy winner so what's with this double standard?

#22

When did I ever call Demon1 "the goat?" Or are you just generalizing because I'm American?

#27
dandann

Frags

Sorry about that but your fellow americans literally said demon1 is the goat before even EG qualified for Tokyo so why can't kang kang be considered the goat when he broke many records in this run

It seems people have forgotten what GOAT actually stands for: Greatest of all Time!

People just throw it around willy nilly like. Whether they actually mean it (which is stupid) or ironically (which is annoying).

He definitely deserves to be considered one of the best val has ever seen. He's mechanically one of the best players. His consistency is incredible. Even when his team has failed he's always delivered. He's a pioneer of Chinese val. He can play every duelist at a high level and did so this year and just won the biggest trophy he could.

#16

I wouldn't call him super consistent. He is rated 3rd on his team this tourney alone, behind Chichoo and Smoggy (and that's after an absolutely insane finals performance). He has only really played well at 2 tournaments imo (Tokyo 23, Seoul 24) of the many EDG has attended. Calling him one of the best Val has ever seen is absurd tbh.

You obviously didn't watch EDG's matches. Stats alone do not show you consistency, in every match he played just as well. He did not have to do as much because his teammates were stepping up like crazy, remember there's only so many kills you can get and only so much for him to do. He is a selfless duelist, there are so many instances where he acts like the bait (same way TH use miniboo) and still gets absurd entries. If he NEEDS to step up, he will - and he has shown us that every instance at this Champs.

You see, what you described KangKang as applies to so many top tier duelists bro. MOST (not all) teams that make it super deep into international tourneys NEED selfless duelists. Don't get me wrong, he's an excellent player, but he isn't exactly unique.

#28

Ok now you're just delusional, "he isn't exactly unique" 💀💀💀. This guy is the most unique duelist we have, and he's obviously the best opper. It's insane what he can do when you expect him to be dead. What I described is only proof that he's consistent, not that he's good. And NO it does not apply to most teams that make it super deep, did Aspas turn up against EDG when it mattered? Nope. Who tf do you think is more unique than kk? I'm just gonna assume you're trolling atp

#29

Okay, you clearly did not see the "MOST (not all) teams" part of my reply when talking about NEEDING a selfless duelist. I was clearly hinting towards LEV with Aspas, who isn't exactly the most selfless player, but he's so utterly insane, that he is practically the exception (at least in Tier 1). But just completely ignore that I guess.

Literally nothing you described about KangKang makes him "unique." Sure, he's absolutely the best OPer, but he's not the only duelist who OPs.

"It's insane what he can do when you expect him to be dead." I can name several duelists at the top level that can also apply to this.

"So many" like who. Who else is putting up first kill numbers like Kang Kang other than maybe Zekken?

GOAT is a stretch but top he's been top 5 over the last 2 years. If he's consistent for longer than maybe. But def in the convos with Aspas, prime Yay, Derke, cNed.

KK and T3xture can easily overtake cNed and Yay but I'm biased towards longevity as everyone other than Yay has been top since 21/22

It's not a stretch. Bro consistently good no matter how his team performs. He was always held back by his team, but now they catching up to him, KK still consistent as ever, he even performs better here with his GF record breaking performance

He was the 3rd highest rated on his team for this tournament it’s not that he is so consistent because of top players he may be the least.

He was pretty mid in playoffs and the whole Champs

He only popped off when his team needed him the most

But he's close to being the GOAT

check his playoff stats only, he wasnt that good in early group stages but playoffs were pretty good, and grand final even more, he just didnt have to step up as much since chichoo and smoggy were just too fucking good

IDK about goat duelist because aspas is still around, but +39 in a grad final is crazy. If you want proof of aspas being the goat btw https://www.vlr.gg/stats/?event_group_id=61&event_id=all&region=all&min_rounds=0&min_rating=0&agent=all&map_id=all&timespan=all
