Who could tell that having half of the year without games, destroying tier 2, failing in fixing the anticheat, not implementing the replay system, earning a lot of money with Champions skins but refusing to share with the orgs, not changing the format and fucking viewership for Americas would make Riot lose money?

Who could predict this???? Certainly not Leo Faria

Or maybe riot doesn't want to give teams 400k for having a youtube channel getting <10k views per video? This isn't going bankrupt, this is Riot telling orgs to clean up their BS and do actual content.

Yeah, Mca is being a dumbass. Valorant is already profitable for Riot, they aren't losing money lmao.

The esport is not profitable at all lol, the game makes them so much bank but the esports side is a money burning pit

Prior to riot selling bundle, esports is just a marketing tool. But now it's just a marketing tool with extra cash cow(bundles) 🀣

Esports are marketing, hard to calculate this value, but its there

#44

I was talking about Valorant as the game. But Riot is actually positioning to make the esport profitable, even for participant orgs, in contrast to League.

The champs bundle will easily stabilize at over $100 million per year with the addition of china, and could go even higher if valorant's playerbase continues to grow. Additionally, you have all the revenue from the team capsules. Lowkey if riot includes a knife in team capsules going forward (simple skins like for the classic this year), those team capsules could really bring in a lot more revenue than they already did this year.

#48
Prancer

Riot isn't using esports to make money, they know that it will never be profitable for them, they want to make the net cost of events and the league 0 for them. Esports has been a money burning pit for year and we will see more organizations leave, but I believe that vct is much ahead of the competition in terms of making it's league less of a money pit for the organizations that are part of t1. T2 teams will almost never make money unless all they do is buy the team that wins ascension then farm selling team bundles in t1.

Oh sure, so Riot doesn't care about their game producing content for Valorant.

Oh wow, i'm so dumb, i thought that Valorant was a game that was meant to be well know and be able to entertain people with It's content, having more and more people getting interested in the game and actually playing It.

That's so dumb of me for assuming that, of course 🫒

#25

Buddy, you aren't understanding.

Orgs are not using the 400k for content. They are using it for other things and half-assing their content channels. Why should Riot give an org money if they aren't going to use the money for it's intended purpose?

#33

Do you think that one or two signings are getting paid the 400k/year?
Granted there are additional staff like editors etc but what Riot get out of it is not worth the investment

#34
DSGFan
7
Frags
+

Does TCK generate 400k in revenue, let alone any profit?

Does Xand + Danny Jones generate 400k in revenue, let alone any profit?

Does Frttt generate 400k in revenue, let alone any profit?

Does Tixinha + Otsuka + Belky generate 400k in revenue, let alone any profit?

Does Corsa + Shanks generate 400k in revenue, let alone any profit?

The answer to all of these is 99% likely to be NO. So then why give money for something that isn't returning anything? And do you really think that the guys from each of these teams is getting the 400k? There might be a couple of orgs that actually use the money properly, but the vast majority misuse it.

It makes perfect sense for Riot to eliminate this program.

Listen Leo, you dumbfuck

It's not about the immediate revenue that this streammers can bring for the table, but for the FUTURE one.

The streammers literally bring new players to the game, they make the game relevant in YouTube, Twitch, tiktok and that's the greatest thing Valorant needs to improve It's players. I've literally met people that don't like playing Valorant/cannot because of their weak pcs, but love WATCHING IT in YouTube.

It's a called an investiment, something that you Riot idiots apparently don't know nothing about.

You guys literally make MUCH MORE than 400K a year, the only excuse that you guys can actually give is that this money is going now for the tier 2

That you with you little rotten brain and ballsuckers in Riot Destroyed, for money.

#43
DSGFan

Frags

The only dumbass here is you.

There are going to be 48 teams in partnership next year.

48 x 400,000 = 19,200,000 / $19.2 million per year. That's practically half of the revenue from the champs bundle from 2023, and will be around 20% - 30% of the revenue from the champs bundle this year.

Why the fuck should Riot sacrifice $20 million per year for orgs that are going to pocket the money and not use it for its intended purpose?

Out of 48 teams, I can only think of maybe 6 that are actually bringing in new players to the game and have content creation worthy of the stipend.

You should know that orgs are misusing the funds, especially with the allegations surrounding Mibr using RIOT FUNDS FOR CS:GO, and Furia's extraordinarily shitty reputation for how they treat their players.

SEN, PRX, Liquid (their EMEA content branch), and NRG are examples of teams who you could justify receiving the stipend. But guess what? Their content arm is so big that they don't even need the stipend. Riot gave teams two years of 400k/year to generate strong content creation. If 2 years and 800k wasn't enough for you to generate content, then you're not going to be generating content and aren't worth it.

#45
Mca

Frags
+

Leo, listen up.

MIBR is making a Lot of content for Valorant, MIBR teteuw literally made videos that reached millions of views and It helped the image of the game to grow up internationally. One of my friends literally discovered Valorant by this videos.

The money doesn't need to be so high, yes you can cut costs, but let the orgs still have some money for content!

Every org matters, not only the big ones, the little ones too. You cannot forget that you are creating the next generation of players that will play the game. You already fucked up with tier 2, Just don't fuck up the last thing that you have left that is tier 1.

If you do that, Valorant will be like Wild Rift, and we all know what happenned when you were "expelled" from there.

#46
DSGFan
2
Frags
+

First of all, my name isn't Leo. If you want to play this game, I can start referring to you as Fillipe Martins.

Secondly, teteuw may have millions of views, but how many of those are views from people who don't play valorant and will now play it, and of that number, how many will actually buy skins? Let's say on average players are willing to spend $20 on skins. Did teteuw generate 20,000 new players who bought $20 of skins? I don't think so.

Riot cut the stipend, but gave teams their own bundle. As an org, you should actually invest into having a likable team that will sell bundles! Additionally, Riot is now going to even give teams that don't make champs a portion of the champs bundle. So that is already a recovery of part of the 400k lost.

Why should Riot give more money to orgs who don't care to the point that two teams went WINLESS in split 1 of this year? Do you think that two winless teams are going to motivate people to make purchases? Please stop being silly.

#47
Mca

Frags
+

Furia went 4-1 this split and only didn't classify because of your shitty Format.

Bro your dumb... It's called FUNELLING, not everyone that watches a vΓdeo will buy skins, obviously. But most that watch and didn't know the game can start playing, like some people that started playing the game in 2024.

Or do you think that the people that played in 2020 are still playing today and buying skins? Obviously not!

The game needs to keep having a image online, otherwise is a dead game. Just like when It launched had everyone ok Twitch playing It, now It's like 1/4 of streams.

This money serves to fix that

Crazy how they only shared like 20 mil from champions bundle money with the orgs last year. Meanwhile valve distributed 110 million to teams and players that were at the Paris major last year. Riot is greedy asf

Yeah I know. It’s the same in CS where valve gives half to teams at the major, sticker capsule sales were around 220 million.

#20

Then IDK why you're calling Riot greedy when %wise they shared the same as valve?

#22

Because they could sell a lot more if they left it in the stores longer. Or better yet leave it permanently to buy at any time. Imagine how much that would make for the teams?

Having it for a limited time is part of the way they drive demand, so it is what it is. They're going to be making a lot more thing year with China added to VCT.
