Following the loss, Paper Rex Paper Rex Asia-Pacific Rank #3 mindfreak Aaron Leonhart Jinggg Wang Jing Jie f0rsakeN Jason Susanto d4v41 Khalish Rusyaidee something Ilya Petrov coach alecks took the stand to members of the media in their post-match press conference regarding several collective mistakes and shortcomings throughout the match.
The team looked scrappy on both maps in the series. What do you think were some of the points that you could improve on? What are some things you think you need to improve for your next series?
alecks: "I think on Icebox we just had a game plan but went away from it. Because of that, I think it made it more difficult for us. First off, G2, it's very rare we play a team like that. Maybe not rare, they have to play against you first. Sometimes we just if we play wrongly, and we can't hit our shots because we're in wrong positions. Basically, so just one Gekko flash hits all of us because they combine it very well. On Lotus, I think we just didn't play our comp well on attack. Our defense is okay. I think if we start on defense, we may have we gotten the lead instead."
Online there have been quite a few posts which say that G2 were actually better suited for this matchup. Would you agree with this sentiment or do you think that this is wrong, and are there any comments that you guys would like to add onto it as well?
alecks: "I mean, they play really well. Regardless of playstyle, if you play really really well, I think you're going to have a very very good game regardless. I think we should have done better, but I don't think it came down to playstyle. We tried to do different things, and it still didn't work."
How can you look at the state of Paper Rex in the time since Shanghai just a few months ago compared to now, in terms of form and the state of the team?
f0rsakeN: "I think we had so many problems during Shanghai. This time, I think we as a team, we feel as if we're together. Today, maybe it's just because it's our first match, but we had more mistakes. But I will say that in Shanghai, we didn't feel like we were family, but now I feel that we're more of a family now. I still believe I think we can have a lower bracket run."
