Y'all, imagine this shit happens in Valorant. A grandfinals/lowerfinals of an event in the US. Fnatic vs KC. Crowd yelling "fuck you botster" as N4RRATE clutches up during OT to be the the only player of NA to be in the grandfinals.
And then you wakeup, because boaster is probably gonna start crying immediately on stage and y0nsu will start writing her twitter paragraph. As unfortunate as it is, I dont think this will ever happen in Valorant. The game is too soft, riot would probably step in as well. Would love to be proven wrong.

There have been numerous times when riot colloquially themselves said about restricting BMs. not saying there havent been times for when the players didnt complain about it, but there have also been many more instances without the involvement of opponent players and staffs still include this behaviour for the sake of integrity. i do think that riot has chilled out, I could be wrong but seeing how the entire theme for Shanghai seems to be trash talk it feels like riot is realizing this and trying to be more lenient. Boostio's pig being taken away sucks but it makes sense cause of other cultures and stuff. After the tbagging and body shooting drama last year i feel like now we only see MORE of it cause pros dont seem to care. Riot will be strict, its kinda their whole memo. Hopefully things continue to be fun and entertaining with all the trash talk this year
I think it's good that they're starting to at least acknowledge it, but I'm very sceptical with the way they deal with it. It's effectively 'you can talk shit, but only if we like it' from the way I see it.
Being strict and authoritative never works in the long term (excluding some extreme cases). At the end of the day no one can complain and expect to make a difference about a free product, which was probably by design.
But I still think it's not a formula for long term success, because you'll end up just making it boring (subjective) compared to other sports/esports
Its not about whether you would get pressed about boaster lol. You think they actually hate apex? Apex made fun of monesy and he was the IGL of VIT. Crowd just hard supported G2 and wanted to get into VIT's heads. It just made it wayy more entertaining to watch, and ofc it wouldve been electric being in the crowd of the LAN in person. The storyline was made up by itself, a history between the teams wasnt even needed.
All the fucking pussies that get bullied irl and try to escape to their "dreamland" play valorant to get pampered by the devs and get free kills with abilities and just random dogshit while deserving nothing. Those are the people that want their sunshine and rainbows stories in esports and nothing bad to ever happen to their favourite team because they are scared of everything.
The entire valorant community needs to inject some fucking test tbh . It's filled with anime wannabes , dudes who speak like they got stage 4 throat cancer and a bunch of 12yr olds who finds body shooting offensive. Not saying the community should be super toxic and start acting like a bunch of A holes but a bit of sportsman ship and some true fucking rivalries would be appreciated ffs. Most of those corny ass dialogues said during the vct cinematics feels too cringy and forced in all honesty ( it was peak last year tho especially the champs finals one). Riot needs to lose up in all honesty and i hope it happens.
I think this sums it up pretty well, a super young fanbase who don't know how to properly give and take banter, and a TO that doesn't know what they want to police. The VCT twitter account poster a picture of Bootio and his pig, but then the TOs ended up taking the pig away? And there are 0 rivalries, mostly because the tourneys dont have teams from their country. In champs there were so many PRX fans in the crowd, so all the USA chants were equaled out by PRX chants. As for Lock//in the brazillian crowd was going crazy for Loud winning, and probably would have flamed Fnatic, if things ended differently.
People keep on going on about an 'L crowd' in brazil or whatever, but in hindsight it's actually the best crowd we've had yet. If LOUD had won they would've been that much more excited, but as Fnatic won the crowd was still a cool factor, the eerie silence spoke volumes when the comeback was happening.
But even small shit like taking away Boostio's pig just makes the rest of what they promote feel forced and fake.
The TO's think that they should get to set the narrative, and that people aren't smart enough to make their own storylines.
I hadn't been to a CS event before IEM Dallas, and I gotta say, being part of the crowd was incredibly fun. Never been to a valorant LAN so I don't know how it compares, but this one set the bar pretty high.
I don't think we'll ever see stuff like that in Valorant, partly because of the community. However, Riot also tend to play very advertiser safe, and most American advertisers are the most puritan mfs you'll ever meet. No swearing, nothing remotely controversial or disrespectful. Tl;Dr, I think Riot wouldn't even allow or cater to this type of crowd even if Val community was like this.
