He fked up by going to that interview in a crucial time when everyone at c9val were under the chopping block. I just watched half of the interview and this guy was being way too honest with everything. He admitted how he fked up the map vetoes in LCQ, he was taking blame for a lot of their mess ups, he also admitted that they were praccing with qpert before lcq to bring him into some surprise comps and then scrapped the plan last minute. I feel like C9 owner jack got juked out by seeing all these and lost trust in him. That's most likely what happened. Unfortunate.

mce is a good enough coach that a simple interview wouldn't make him lose his job
it seemed that he was taking responsibility and trying to relieve a lot of pressure off the players

you underestimate C9 then. If merit mattered then leaf, xeppaa would still have a job.

Bro he’s a coach. He’s gonna admit what he did wrong. He’s the type who always wanna be brutally honest. If an org can’t handle that then the org shouldn’t be in esports

yes and? Honesty isn't always the best policy. Why do you think famous people get media trained before the speak in front of a camera or a mic?

He reads the VLR threads. Thoughts on this Matthew?

He knows this is true. Which is why he made the tweet that he did, although it was made to seem like a joke.

If c9 would kick someone because of honesty and their ability to take the blame then that is absurd.

Nothing is absurd at c9 anymore. Also, If you as the HC admit to messing up a lot then the management is gonna lose confidence in you. They were already freaking out at C9 camp with everything so this is not surprising to me.

I think there were some fair things to critique about mce.

Qpert lcq scrimming, which I understand the thought process behind.

Some of the map vetos stuff, which may have made a difference (not guaranteed). Those are just things as a coach you would feel more responsible for.

considering the bigger picture of all the drawbacks that c9 had, what mce achieved was great.

If the interview is somehow part of the reason (there's surely no way) it feels like they were just waiting for mce to slip up to fire him.

Deciding to play qpert just to "surprise" your opponent and then backing out last minute. Sounds like he was overcooking and lacked conviction. C9 prolly have a point.

I definitely think 'the surprise' comp idea was a good idea since it's a tight format and once you show everything in a map you are kinda cooked but dk why he needed a different player for that. He was overcooking for sure with that also backing out last min just made all those scrims a waste. He addressed that too. A bit of media training would have saved him from all that

Also, him talking about the curry/xeta situation could have been a factor (essentially he said that it was a bad move for the team) IF mce got kicked for what he said in that podcast

I haven't gotten to that part yet or may be I missed it but yeah, he took blame for a lot of things.
