If masters get bigger next year should EMEA as a whole get more slots or should the CIS TR and EU be separated and given individual slots?
Ye but that would be potentially 6 teams. Why would u want that many teams to represent EMEA. The 6th team isnt gonna be close to the top 2 and wont do much damage. Its just taking slots away from other regions. I rather wanna see one more korean and 3 south american teams instead of 2 more EMEA teams wich will mess up the seeding and let us watch w groups with 2 EMEA teams
I really think that FireFlux (another Turkish Team) can easily fits to EMEA. I really don't know if they win or lose, but their aim and strategy is not bad such as BBL. While in EMEA their's coach's wife got sick and coach went to hospital (die a week ago, rest in peace). So they couldn't analyze the counter strategies (if you watch FPX match, they were dominating the game, but after pauses, FPX won the match).
Gambit and Supermassive have no competition apart from EMEA, if you watch football you’d know this because a problem for teams. Teams like PSG struggle in the champions league even with a super team because they have 0 weekly competition in the French league. Giving these two regions would almost guarantee supermassive and gambit in every international competition.
Competitiveness is much better for Turkish teams in the long term. SMB wouldn't even be formed if EMEA were separated. Another example is that previous EMEA playoffs for Iceland forced the TR teams to play more on-meta. Every TR team were using the beta comp back then. EU teams naturally crushed them.
Just look at the Brazilian teams in the Icleand. They were not even playing on-meta on the highest scene. They performed horrible. Vikings were playing Icebox without Viper and shit. At the end, Vikings was forced to a point that I think they didn't even believe they can win the map and played Yoru for trolling on their last map.
Only to the same degree Korea and Japan do. CIS and TR only make sense being part of EMEA if JPN and KR got merged into an NEA group.
As I said, needs to be consistent worldwide rather than favouring Asia and South America by splitting up the continents but not splitting up a continent with a larger player base in the form of EMEA.
CIS and Turkey have 2 good teams though, its the same idea as PSG in football. They have an amazing team but without playing tough games every week they struggle in the champions league against the best in the world. This will happen to gambit and supermassive if they play with no competition in their own regions
Clearly you can't read because I was saying that if the focus is on competition then you would merge every region that can be merged without it being logistically unfeasable (ping).
The extra level of competition you are saying would be lost needs to be introduced for other regions such as East Asia otherwise EMEA is simply being treated differently. If TR and CIS have to be forced to be competitive to qualify for big events, so does KR and JPN which have their own slots.
They need to keep it like it is. It encourages regions to mix rosters. If they had their own slots it would cause less TR and CIS pros to join “international” rosters.
It would be like if NA split. The resulting teams would be weaker. While an all Canadian team would probably fair pretty well, it would still be weaker than a USA and Canadian mixed team.
I feel like this concept of "joining regions" just like it is on EMEA very entertaining. So it should actually be encouraged. It would be a ton of fun if they had the "EMEA playoff" format, but for America to determine the best team of the continent or perhaps for China + Korea + Japan. To maintain the representativeness from all regions they should give the best team of the region a direct slot and make the others fight in a continental tournament.
Ain't gonna happen most likely. And even then CIS viewer and players involvement only grows up with international competition. Nobody really interested in domestic events unless its RMR. Every team or player interview Ive watched they said how little they care about CIS region and how they motivated to be the best in the world
