The game seems to have updated its graphics from 2011 to 2015-16 graphics, the new smoke mechanic is good and its bright and contrasty af. What's the point of calling it Counter Strike 2 like they're changing a lot of things to make the game different than CSGO?

Valorant gets new maps every 3 seasons, map changes, new agent every season(can have just as much impact as the smoke thing). Balance changes that change the entire meta. Skins every month.
CS gets all those things once a year and many of them not even
A Valorant season change brings way more content than CS2. Only true advantage is the better engine and servers, which we already have. And that’s not something that engages the players long term
No, because valve employees are free to work in the game they want. If they want to work on dota and then if they want to work on cs they can.
It's not a good thing for games in source 1, like TF2 and CSGO (csgo was getting some because is the main game tho)

First of all it’s a beta.
Second of all it’s a rebrand, so they called cs2 just because it’s csgo ported to source 2 engine.
And finally, you need to understand that the game is the same but everything got remade with better quality, and it’s good for the game health’s in long term.
Don’t you remember valorant in beta? how clunky it was? It changed a lot right? Cs will be the same, expect good improvements

It's not the same thing as overwatch 2 rebrand.
Yeah both rebranded to "2", but the approach is VERY different. Counter-strike will still be the same game, but will have a super optimized and modern code, and its easier to bring more updates!
People are expecting a different game, but they need to understand what a engine port means

Engine update is not changing anything in the game. The graphics are now as comparable to 2015-16 and the only new thing is smoke pathway. Its still the same game. Counter Strike 2 would make sense if they changed character models and guns and added new never seen before maps and also more ways to play the game itself, for example breakable environment.
As of now its nothing but a big update.
tbf most of the CS:GO community are hardcore players that really despise changes made to their game, I feel like valve hit the right spot with changing some stuff that would make it exciting and not changing too much that would make old players don't wanna play CS2, because valve said that this is gonna be the replacement for CS:GO, so CS:GO won't be a thing after CS2 has released.
also valve says that it's a different game when in reality it's basically the same game anyway, you can upgrade your CS:GO to CS2 for free and you still keep all of your inventories and achievements from CS:GO, it doesn't really matter what valve called their "new" game, it's basically the same shit with new engine and new mechanics.
Some don't seem to understand that souce 2 update was never supposed to be a completely new game. Its CSGO moved to new engine and most have known that since the rumors started years ago. What we got was more than I expected. Also people mention OW2 all the time, but its the exact same thing. OW2 was not supposed to be a new game, it was an update to OW1. Its just a rebrand to make it more marketable. Also almost no one wanted them to change core CSGO mechanics and they didn't. Same with maps that are some of the most iconic and well received in FPS gaming history. Also switch to Source 2 opens up a lot of new possibilities in the future. Let it be custom maps that are already cool in CSGO to new modes like when they added BR mode in Danger Zone. Also I don't get these engine comparisons when to my understand Source 2(2015) is Valve's newest and Source 1 got released in 2004. Like that is a massive difference.
OK do you know what CS1 is? If so, dont you think its understanble to name this product CS2 as its a massive leap from CS1 PLUS the naming makes sense as it is inline with the engine change. Tact fps games need to run well on avrage hardware and not be too visualy complicated. Valve hit the jackpot with the first game (arguably even with the half life mod) so they have never had any reason for massive changes. I dont understand what the fuck you where expecting? Honestly they overtook our expectations as we just though it would be a port to source 2 but instead we are getting new smokes, remakes of classic maps and better servers with new sub-tick tech. Did you expect CS2 to be an open world RPG or something?

Aside from graphical improvements, every single aspect of the games physics has changed. that mean every singe physical interaction in the game is different, from grenade trajectory to geometry Collison, player movement, weapon balancing and more. The fact that the game seems so similar at a glance is actually a testament to the work put into making it look and feel so familiar. Even over the course of one afternoon, players are already confirming many of the changes to gameplay that weren't showcased in those videos from Valve.
This is most advanced CounterStrike has ever been under the hood, and it warrants a proper sequel IMO.
Agree with it or not, it would be disingenuous to tie this game to the cs:go title, because it is not that game. Just like source is not cs:go, even though they are both built on the same source engine. This is an even bigger departure from that of source to cs:go
