idk about china but here in India no one is homophobic due to culture or believes (at least the hindu population)
Homophobia in india is mainly used as an insult, like people use "are you gay lol" as an insult when someone gets too close to another boy

Im talking about more traditional ideas like " men and women, when they reach a certain age, should find someone of the opposite sex to marry and start a family in order to carry on the ancestral line " . Moreover Buddhist admonitions which spread in both these countries basically tell not having offsprings as unfilial so supporting LGBTQ got indirectly out of the question because there cant be offsprings

It's not just pr, their middle eastern severs are based in Bahrain and islam condemns LGBTQ+ as haram because of it inclination towards following the natural order of things (or atleast the way ppl saw it in ancient Arabia) however because of the way islam is typically preached, the end result is incredibly bigoted, it's understandable but that doesn't mean it's right
