How are we feeling about having another lockin like tournament with every team attending? Feel like itd be so much more interesting seeing some of the mid teams of each region play each other
setting up a 48 team tournament would be kinda hard. but I think it is manageable. 3 groups of 16, each group has 4 representatives of every region. swiss system, 8 in, 8 out. 24 teams after groups, 6 3-0 teams and 2 3-1 teams (based on game difficulty/region strength, so the regions get the priority of their best champs placement) get a bye, others fight in round 1. teams with a bye choose their opponent and you get a 16 team single-elim bracket
Bigfish [#2]yes we should have another one imo much more enjoyable than a 8 team masters
yeah especially now i feel like most middle of the pack teams are fairly competitive, while lockin just had a few clear favourites and a bunch of bums.

cook

I think Buchholz (a.k.a schedule strength coefficient) can either cook for the tournament or make it shit. buchholz basically assigns you a coefficient adding together the scores of your previous opponents. e.g. a 3-1 team who beat 0-3 1-3 and 2-3 and lost to a 3-0 team would get a worse coefficient than a team who lost to a 3-0 team and won the 2-3 team 3-2 team and 3-1 team

This also mean no kickoff :/
whitebeans [#10]whatever year they stop adding teams(and start kicking the next) hopefully they will have the biggest tourney.
they won't stop adding new teams cuz they aren't doing this anymore. Maximum capacity is 12 teams
I was thinking they could just utilise the current 12 team kick//off format however have 3 teams from each region competing at each event.
So you would have 4 tournaments running, 1 in each regions homebase (Shanghai/Los Angeles/Berlin/Seoul).
Top 2 of each tournament qualifying to masters 1.
Or similarly have 6 "home based teams" and 2 teams from each other region.
Allowing riot to frame the event around "defending your regions pride"

buchholz for a lockin makes no sense wtf? how would seeds be determined if all the teams are new and havent played yet?

If we were to do it this year: china>emea>amer>pacific
simply on champs performance

what? the seeding is for each team.....not region

buchholz is applied after the games are played, starting from round 3
