to care about ewc and hate it because “human rights violations”. how about either just watch it to chose not to? Esports is a business and like any other, it runs on money and opportunities. Find some real issues to cry about or instead of crying, put that energy into making your lives better. Internet is fucking crazy.

I lowkey agree with this. There are many problemes involved with ewc and what not but at the end of the day its a video game and we shouldnt get ahead of ourselves. I understand there are real life problems involved but its better for everyone to focus on problems in ur own life than keep yourself accompanied with issues that you cant fix

agree. People are reacting as if ewc or valorant will have any effect on their life whatsoever. It’s probably an escape mechanism, from things which actually matter to them personally.

It’s just futile and will lead you nowhere. Is you or millions other “caring” gonna stop this?

people would have said the same about slavery, civil rights, womens rights, gay rights etc. regardless of whether I have impact on the world or not, I want to be able to stomach looking at myself in the mirror. And to do that I need to not be spineless when it comes to topics I believe in.

A saying I like to live by is that you shouldnt let good be the enemy of perfect. Will there be issues that I cant impact? yes of course. But atleast I do something rather than nothing

i dont really know what to take away, but i think you mean that atleast doing something is better than nothing

Which i agree with, stand for your voice and raise attention. However, it comes to a point. Im not saying you are doing it, not even vlr. But it happens all the time. Zellsis says the r-word? Losers on X literally had an outrage over this. This the shit im talking about

But to come back to this topic, i personally think a lot of people dont engage in this drama because they believe the mental burden about the fact they wont have any influence with their actions is what restrains them from acting in the first place

saying a slur is an individual transgression and does not compare to the saudi government using public funding to cleanse their image of human rights abuses

You can speak all you want but unfortunately your opinions doesn’t really matter. IMO when an event is certain to occur with a probability of 1, criticising it is just wasting time and energy.

i can focus on my own life while speaking and having a opinion those things are not mutually exclusive

You can do that, and its up to each to find their own balance of that. I go by the idea that "stupid" (or just more ignorant or oblivious people) are usually happier because they arent aware of the problems around them. I want to be happy.

Thats actually something i agree with, “stupid” people do live happier the only problem is im not stupid and you dont seem stupid either so in a sense you have to find a balancr between stupidity and happyness and knowledge and depression. ( very simplified ofc)

Frankly, ever since I've gotten more into football and my local team got bought out by the Saudis too, and yet every fan I've talked to hasn't fallen for the sportswashing and thinks poorly of Saudi despite all the money, I've stopped caring as much.

They're trying to clean their reputation without actually cleaning their act, but it's not really working on most people.

Just as I can choose not to watch it, I also can also tell choose to tell others I don’t like it. It being a business which makes money doesn’t invalidate my criticisms of it.
