americas kickoff as an example
It doesnt really matter anyway though, the viewership will rise and drop through the years, we literally saw this during 2023 as well due to a massive wave of talent getting locked out of franchising.
Just go look at historical data for the early years of any successful esport and youll see that expecting it to rise each and every year is unrealistic
yea exactly its just a come and go kind of thing, if those 75k were gonna be a major benefit to the scene theyd watch more than two failing rosters.
The only issue I see is the blatant lack of talent coming from Japan, they hold a massive market of viewers and we just have 0 representatives for it because all their teams are ass and there isnt any investment to gather all the best talent of the region. Talent scouting is also ATTROCIOUS
The CS playerbase has massively dropped ever since the release of valorant and CS2 didnt do anything to help the game other than the initial wave of players. Most CS league watchers dont actually play the game and CS has great production throughout its tournaments with great narratives due to years of being an esport.
Give Valorant more time, im sure it wont kill CS viewership but once the league matures and all teams are actually good in franchising itll bring back a lot of the brazilian viewers and possibly even be able to replace all the tenz stans that left the esport after his retirement
while you might not care in the short term, a lot of those viewers created massive revenue for the scene and kept it alive in order to reach where it is now. Tenz played a huge role in allowing valorant to get out of the pandemic era with a thriving esports scene and huge success globally. There are even pro players now that credit tenz as the reason they joined the league
