for real, please have a separate league for Korean teams please, if 4 of them consistently dominate this year

Slowly this game is becoming league of legends

na ands eu aren't weak in this game unlike lol so this game won't become lol. especially since eu and na are consistently producing talents every year. not like apac where other sub regions apart from kr are so stagnant or don't have the solid foundation that kr has.

It was mainly a joke but it has some legs. KR/CN won 2/3 trophies last year, and apac is not good at lol either, only CN and KR are good

I dont think eu or na will ever be bad at valorant tho since its a shooter and historically the west dominates the scene (unless the US bans valorant)

if cs scene talents start coming to val then eu should dominate but cs is still so strong. so i think it will be a stalemate situation between na, eu, cn and kr for long time in future. sea might improve but their esports foundation for pc scene is just not solid enough rn.

I think eu will get better if CS is less popular there but I dont expect CS pros to be good at this game anymore only new talent can keep up

disagree. CN and Pacific gets equal slots to internationals unlike CS. IIRC asia only get 1/8 of international slot compared to western regions. Equal region opportunity would prevent EMEA from dominating Valorant.

Why would CS talent switch over to valorant when it's harder to break thru in valorant than in CS?

Sorry but China don't dominate LoL.

It's mostly Korea.

Well if you have t1 in your region thats just what kinda happens. BLG rn and in the past JDG, EDG were easily the favorites for tournaments, and put up extremely close series. In fact JDG are the clostest team to have ever reached the golden road. I agree KR > CN but both are extremely competitive and the gap is tiny between the two

Actually G2 is the closest since they made finals at worlds (before they got utterly stomped by FPX)

#27

For example look at last worlds. 4/4 LPL teams were in playoffs whole the LCK had 3/4

Nah,you can check the aim and whole strategy
CN and KR are leading meta rn
At least,Te and Edg is much stronger than EU

I wasnt actually serious, its just that if KR gets its own scene it will be like league cuz then you have APAC, EU, NA, CN, KR. Like in League

I’m not overly familiar with how League regions qual to MSI or Worlds but with 5 regions wouldn’t it be more difficult to set up a bracket? Top 2 would be a 10 team tourney, top 3 would be 15 and so on. Doesn’t it work better to be 8 -> 12 -> 16?

Can't believe SEA poeple was complaining about kr 3 slots at the beginning of franchise

At that point both korea and sea were one team regions. Now all are neck and neck

Korea wasn't a one-team region from the get-go, they just had one slot.
DRX and Nuturn both placed 3rd at LANs.

I'm talking about beginning of the franchise. Only drx and prx. One team regions

tf u mean they had gen and t1

Now all 3 of them are good teams + NS but I think it wasn't the case in the beginning

#38

he said "both 1 team regions" as if he was alluding to APAC/KR because PRX and DRX would no longer be from separate regions since they're both in Pacific, is how I interpreted it.

If he genuinely meant franchising and KR/SEA as subregions, then by that point T1 was still good enough for KR to be considered a 2 team region, given that they were 3rd in the league after DRX. Don't forget that all 3 KR teams were in the top 4 of the league in 2023. It was PRX, DRX, T1, GEN.G/ZETA (depending on if you count Champs attendees - regardless there were 2 KR teams in the top 3 of Pacific.) And sure you can argue that T1 wasn't as good as PRX or DRX, but they were going toe-to-toe with NRG at Tokyo and fared decently against other similarly seeded teams across the whole year (minus LOCK//IN, but GEN.G did well enough against LOUD to cover for that)

And because that's such a stupidly obvious and apparent piece of information I simply assumed he was giving the lesser of two stupid statements

The initial plan was to have five Korean organizations(maybe DRX T1 GEN DK NS) and one team (NS) with a Japanese roster instead of Korean. It was reduced to 3 teams.

What I had thought was going to happen when partnership rumours first came about was them doing APAC North (JP, KR, CN) and APAC South separate

it's probably too late to make any big adjustments to the leagues tbh

#28

CN is too big to join with other countries

#29

I think 5-6 slots (after counting ascension) is fair enough. (Look at Americas and NA teams for example)
obviously a league is even better. But if you absolutely HAD to for some reason, 5-6 slots should be perfectly fine

it's a pointless conversation to have anyways, since as I said, it's too late to change anything

League takes a lot of learning and skill, but child with a quick mouse click born everywhere in the world. And, In FPS, pure luck or how well you slept the night before can sometimes have more impact than actual skill. No region will conquer the very long term.

tbh, KR is very important for Pacific. If KR and China form a league then Pacific won't even have a VCT worthy team. Pacific is about PRX and PRX only.
