i have literally never graced upon the words "in the hands of a better writer", i could see this being the case for franchise characters that are shared between writers but the author of re:zero wrote him from beginning to end. did you want him to pass the baton half way through? he's the reason you even see the good parts of him
lowkey Percy Jackson falling off, the stories seem so much more like cash grabs and the quality of the writing is horrible. compare a Percy Jackson or heroes of Olympus or even trials of Apollo for the first 3 books, the difference is immediately noticeable. rick is legit telling us everything that's happening instead of letting us infer
finally someone who agrees w me. i think after burning maze the writing became much worse, maybe tyrants tomb is still acceptable but the last book of ToA was horrible, instead of showing how apollo feels just tells us straight up as internal monologue. sun and moon as well, story was so uninteresting to read.
the tv show i dont even bother watching, i knew it was cooked when they changed annabeths ethnicity. if rick himself doesnt give a shit abt his source material for his own show, why even bother?
oh yeah you can def see the same thing in the show. There is no longer any show dont tell-there is so much exposition and exposition dumps that if you cut it out the rest of the scenes would make up 1 episode (for example when the minatour is chasing percy his mom and grover they dead ass stop the chase so percys mom can exposition dump for-i kid you not-a straight 15 minutes and then they resume the chase again as if nothing happend). Their is also 0 tension (stating a time limit and then making so it didnt even matter) and 0 character devolpment (annabeth for example gets her entire personality cut where if you replaced her with a cardboard cutout who didnt say anything the whole show nothing would change) and they cut out all moments of Percy using his powers (everytime hes about to use them the show cuts to right after he uses them and we are meant to infer what happend)
