45% of the league is koreans. spg has looked insanely strong overall and many believe they can make champs which will guarantee their stay in pacific. the korean talents are not slowing down as well so they can get the 12th spot as well. i think in future russia ( they can choose which region they wanna play ), korea and japan should be one league and rest of the pacific in one league. this will allow thai indonesia and potentially indian subcontinent viewership to grow more.

If u separated Korea from apac u would probably have to remove 3 champs slots too

Yeah they did have seperate leagues last time and the SEA teams we put out were lack of a better word, absolutely atrocious without the competition of the Korean teams

Separating Korea and Japan from APAC means you're taking away the region with the largest talent pool and the largest fanbase. Pacific will be ruined at that point

No
There are more Koreans because their talent is superior and this is talking about just tier 1
The amount of talents sitting in Korean and Japanese tier 2 is crazy
And if your plan of a perfect league is having 2 from there and 2 from rest of Pacific for internationals, then it's not really fair to them. Having more talent is not a flaw and if the other countries want more representation, then maybe they should be better.
Even if they do this, the superior talent pool will have the priority and the share will look something like 3 to them, 1 to rest of the Pacific
So if you want that...sure

"The amount of talents sitting in Korean and Japanese tier 2 is crazy" this is the reason why i think making a another region will help them more. also 2 apac team and 2 korean team went to champs so the distribution of 2 east asia and rest of asia isnt crazy. this will help rest of asia growth and their viewership number will tremendously increase.

It would hurt the rest of apac more than it would benefit Korea. The rest of apac will no longer have strong competition to play against to improve. That's terrible for them. Look at south Asia. They lagged behind the rest of apac in tournaments because of the lack of competition there. Competition drives improvement. We have already seen it from talon and rrq and we need to give more time to see how the Korean competition will drive improvements amongst the rest of the pacific league.

I think SEA/SA has enough talent to fill 12 teams and will be able to compete, but it will be financially unsustainable, a disaster for Riot, and will quickly disappear.

"Is there too many mongolian players in asian counter-strike?" ahh question 💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
South Korea is inarguably the best region in Asia-Pacific and they obviously have the best talent, that's why
use your brain

Except for mongolz there aren't any other good Mongolian roasters or teams. And majority of players in asian Cs apart from mongolz are still chinese so your comparison doesn't make sense.

name doesn't check out
5 salaries teams in mongolia excluding mongolz
5 salaried teams in china rest are just mixes and stacks
you sound like a guy who actually doesn't watch domestic asian cs tournaments and only watches international tournaments mglz and fq participate in

VCT Pacific location IS IN Korea. Local players benefit heavily by scrimming VCT teams, either from scrim or ranked. That answer the rapid improvement.

would this logic apply to any other country in apac?
let's say vct pacific was in sydney
would australians actually get good at the game then?

No because the playerbase in Australia is tiny. Also no challengers teams there. Maybe if the city was tokyo or Jakarta, it would help but Korea has a lot of semi pro or tier 2 pros already

Australia would be the worst example, since CS isn't neglected there. SEA/SA/JP/KR is heavily neglected by CS with lack of "equal slots" for asia. The CS scene needs to die there to have any sort of Valorant transition. Australia is also suffering with lack of orgs to give any player support/infrastructure. T1/DRX/GenG/DPlus/Hanwha Life Esports are just SOME orgs with great facility in the country.

org support doesn't correlate with talent pool
let's switch to india or vietnam instead then, is it still the same case

US also has a 45% player stake of Americas league, but no one thinks to separate from the Americas, right?

i mean many people do think that and that is more likely to happen than this because of the last distance between north america and latam. also americas is more fair now because 53% comes from north america awhile 44% comes from latam.

?? Bro South Asia was given a slot that they dont even deserve. And that team has given up on South Asian talent. South Asian teams are free win, they barely can compete with two kazakh carrying them.

Indonesia is doing fine, with boom going up, rrq and there various inter region exports(PRX, last year blazeking, monyet and Xccurate). Its already the most popular fps there anyway.

Thailand should have won ascension then. MITH could have finished second or even first if they didn't choke the final

Korea dominates the league via their own merit, and that is fine. The franchise league if anything favours the japanese (whose talent pool probably can't support two competitive teams) and South Asian (they don't even have 1 player that should be in tier 1).

If southeast asia+south asia get a league it will be by far the worst league in the world. We seen this in 2022 when their only relevant team is PRX. The first time an APAC team not called PRX qualify via pacific league since franchising is 2024 champs. Thats embarrassing when there's 4/5 teams (with bleed) or 6 (counting south Asia's ge)

On Japan, I wouldn't say that until we see how this year goes

DFM have until this year been kinda trolling with their rosters frankly

And Zeta looked good 1st year of franchising, their additions last year seemed good on paper but just didn't mesh, happens.

...If both teams suck this year though yeah JP might just be cooked

I think it's just a by-product of how much talent there is in KR, they are where esports supposedly began so to me it makes sense that half the league is KR, maybe over time we'll see more players from other subregions as the game becomes more popular

It's very similar with Americas and the USA

As much as I'd love to see more South Asians, it's just not feasible yet imo.

More teams means more jobs. Honestly, Koreans don't have much to object to this, but it's all too clear that this is a megalomania that will lead to immediate disaster for both sides.

  1. Riot's decision to consolidate leagues across continents and limit the number of teams is because they realized in the case of LoL that they didn't have enough money to support every team in every league.

  2. SEA is the most financially vulnerable of all the subregions. Remember, Riot has even consolidated their Challengers, and they did so because they don't have the money to maintain it, not because they want to eliminate the scene. Expanding to 12 teams would mean financial disaster for Riot.
The current tier 1 SEA/SA teams: tln, rrq, ts, ge, booms are the most stable teams in the region (prx is too small of an organization, but has the biggest fanbase to sustain a team). They are in good enough shape.

  3. instead of 2 Japanese super teams, if you have 6 mid Japanese teams, they are no match for 6 Korean teams. Watching an East Asian league would be more boring than even the expected prx show in SEA. It will be faster for the Japanese to lose enthusiasm than for their scene to develop.(Even who with infinite patience leave eventually if the pain continues. There was a time when the LCS had more viewers than the NBA, and look now.)
Koreans have always been less than enthusiastic about Valo, so the popularity will drop purely out.

  4. Both leagues will die in the end, and Riot isn't stupid enough to not know this. Of course, regardless of the outcome, it will be rejected before it even gets a chance to try, because there's not enough money to create a new league, so it won't work.

KR, SEA, JP, India are all different than CN, just think about how much vlr thinks vct cn is undeserving. Both leagues would be incomparably worse than china.

sea is the most financially vulnerable but they are probably least expensive to operate in the scene so they are probably gonna be fine in term of financial. overall it will significantly increase growth for pacific. i think your underestimating apac market . apac will have the same amount of viewership as emea.
for east asia the it will be 5 korean , 4 jp and 1 russian organization. japan can sustain the east asia league by themselves and this will speedup the growth for the korean scene. fans want to see their players more play in the bigger stage and this will give the best chance for japan to qualify for a international league so i dont think japan popularity will drop off and Korea doesn't have much popularity currently to drop off and it can only increase.
