Eh, it wasnt competitive and the format is shit and alot of teams had very easy matches. But its nice to see all the franchising teams at that point and see them play (Even tho it was kinda disappointing especially liquid and Clout9 and Sen)
But at least the all the winless teams got 5 grand :D :D :D that is definitely enough for their roster rebuild righttttttttt :D :D :D :D

i mean, at least they didn’t seem like NPCs. Brazilian crowd has personality, whether it’s good or bad, but there’s personality. The crowd at the Champs this year just seems like NPCs, like bots paid to be there lol

It wasn't competitive (at all, literally 0 competitive integrity) in the sense of being legit or mattering, but that wasn't the point, it was to showcase the teams in the new franchising system and generate interest, which it did very well. Alot of the matches were great too, I still think that Loud v NRG fracture is the single greatest map of all time.

Honestly was a very fun tournament to watch. Having it every 2 years or so just to get a refresher of teams on lan would be fun. Plus getting rid of an 8 team LAN is totally fine.

You do know LOCK//IN is single elim, right? The way Riot would probably do it is give the 16 Champs teams from this year byes, and then just play the same LOCK//IN format with an extra round

Giving the 16 teams byes wouldn't make real sense lets be real. Teams are gonna rebuild and change and also can just fall off ex FNC and EG. if its all single elim then it would be a fuck fest and fun ig.

I think a potential option that would be very long is 4 groups of 16 and each group is a swiss where 4 qual to playoffs making it 16 playoff bracket single elim

4 groups of 12 wouldn't work in a swiss tho, you'd end up with 3 teams in 2-0/0-2 brackets leaving one of them without a matchup OR you'd have top have a weird number of team going thru (eg. 3 teams that went 2-0/6 teams that went 2-0 or 2-1) making it awkward to run the next stage of the event with 9 or 18 teams

the champs team bye idea is way better

the non-competitive argument is so shit

if it was so noncompetitive then why did most top teams make it into the later rounds? we had DRX, Loud, NRG and Fnatic in the top 4 wich were probably the best 4 back then, only upsets we really had were PRX or maybe Liquid going out so early wich is a healthy amount of upsets

It was definitely fun to watch. Very entertaining. I still believe LOUD should've won the last map if they didn't throw hard like that but then again the fans were too one sided so I'm glad FNC won. But that has to be one of the biggest chokes ever in the game.
