  1. 2022- nothing to say, peak val, loud optic fpx

  2. 2023 even though fnc dominated eg cinderella story went crazy

  3. 2024- pretty mid year overall tbh, but pacific finally won a trophy

  4. 2021- prehistoric age of val, there were only 3-5 teams actually competing

21 had its moments, (disregarding the quality of strategy). The SEN vs FNC match was a banger in entertainment value as we get NA vs EU right off the bat, and that continuing to Gambit and NV (Arguably the most dominant teams for each region relative to the time we've seen to date). but I think I do agree overall it's just:

How is 2023 not the best overall?
we had the best grand finals we ever had (loud v fnatic)
one of the BEST underdog stories in esports not just valorant with the most cracked rookie player at the peak of it
China getting wins on internationals and blg beating nrg too lmfao
Prx cgrs making crazy run at tokyo with one of the funniest career defying moment that plagues s0m's streams
Fnatic being the first team to ever be so dominant in history

I'm biased towards saying 2023 was the best year, but even then 2022 was just different, idk if it's rational but it was just a more entertaining product.

2024 def better then 2023 but 2022 was def peak val

2023 had its dull moments but 2024 is a pretty meh year so far. Lock In finals was the best finals we might ever see, and the games leading up to it were great too, Loud vs NRG comes to mind. Master's Tokyo wasn't a great tournament all things considered with the large gap between FNATIC and the rest of the competition, but PRX getting third place with a sub was great and EG's run to second place was great. Champions 2023 was great, the atmosphere and EG playing with the home crowd was one of my favorites. Even though in specifically Valorant Champions 2022 was probably better, in my opinion Champions 2023 was the best we've had so far because of the hype from the crowd.

Compare that to 2024, Masters Madrid was alright, the grand finals was electric but leading up to it wasn't great. There was a sizable gap between Sentinels and GenG vs the rest of the competition. Masters Shanghai was worse in my opinion, with many of the favorites to win such as PRX and 100T not showing up. Patitek's story with Team Heretics was great though and Pacific's first international win is one to remember. Overall, unless Champions 2024 has some crazy storyline, 2023 was a much better year than 2024.

I think it's because of the amount of top teams such as FPX, LOUD, OPTIC, DRX. They all seemed like they could win against one another on any given day. Couple that with the two amazing runs from Pacific with PRX and Zeta Division 2022 was great. Although many people disliked the chamber meta, it gave rise to probably the best peak we've seen so far in the game with OPTIC yay. It was also a big step up from 2021 tactics wise with the strength of initiators at the time being utilized to it's fullest extent.

I don't know where I'd place 2023 but I remember being Loud fan but not really that much, and after seeing them crumble on Tokyo and being kinda mid the first matches of Champs, I thought the team was just done. You could see how poeple were spreading rumours about their relationship and everything, and everyone was thinking about how thew went from the second best team in the world, to losing matches they easily would win any other day. I remember having school at the time Loud vs Fnatic were playing, so I just didn't even watched the match thinking about how Loud would just get mopped by Fnatic. When I came back home and saw the results I literally got goosebumps, it may sound corny but the way Loud went from doubted to feared again, the way they got back into form just in time for the Playoffs and how they were playing insanely good those last matches just made me the biggest fanboy. I was rooting for them on every match, and the rematch against Fnatic on the lower bracket was fire af

That Loud run in champs was something else man, the lower bracket finals was insane against EG

You gotta wait until champs happens bro, it’s always the best event of the year. Don’t call the year boring until we’ve at least seen champs.

what prime chamber does to people. In all seriousness, we took what we had for granted, because 2022 was absolutely the peak of competition in the pro scene.

any ascension team winning a tournament would make a great statement to riot that maybe they should relegate the worse teams and not former ascension winners to tier 2

Depending on how Champs goes I would say 2024 > 2023

If GEN.G just tier gap everyone again it'll be pretty disappointing but if we get a stacked playoffs bracket the same way Istanbul's bracket was where every team feels like heavy hitters who could realistically make the top 4, then I think it could be the best Champions we've ever had with the level of play nowadays vs back in 2022
