He deserves this man. After the shitshow in 2023 I'm glad he's getting his money worth
Well I'm not fully aware of how DSG works, it might have changed, but at least last time I checked it was all money coming from Toast right? What about their sponsors and stuff? Doesn't sound like financially stable org at all, and they do not really compete in anything else either.
Riot has already turned down the guard last year, I'm just wondering where their bar is. At least it's a popular org which I'm sure helps
Well all of you seem to agree so I thought I might remember wrong and had to check again.
The news comes after The Guard and their former lineup were controversially denied a spot in VCT Americas due to The Guard organization not meeting Riot's Team Participation Guidelines.

I might still be as you guys say, but I knew my memory wasn't just making shit up
They didn't wanna add money so Riot didn't let them in. If Riot allowed them to maintain everything as it currently was they would have probably accepted. Guess you can see it both ways, either way, there is a financial stability test that's needed and Riot can totally reject a team if they see it fit
They do have a pretty decent NACL roster as well, and they actually won NACL last year. They alse had a GC team, but after being eliminated from a tourney by a team that turned out to have been cheating (or rather, one cheater) they disbanded. Also sponsored a bunch of TFT streamers to an event, with some still maintaining their DSG branding. So I'd say their relation with Riot is probably sound enough.
DSG also has an Apex NA team, which has qualified to the "champions" event for Apex later this year, and they have 'recently' picked up PhiDX in tekken 8.
Only issue that might arise is their affiliation with BLEED, but I assume that would just get dissolved in order for DSG to promote, if they win that is.
From what I understand the partnership between BLEED and DSG is not financial, i.e. Bleed doesn't support DSG financially in any way (other than the bootcamp that Bleed used when they were in ascensions, and gave to toast for DSG) so everything is from Toast's pockets and sponsors if they have any. This partnership is what riot calls an "Affiliate Partnership" and its similar to what academy teams are. What this means for DSG is that, in case of emergency situations with the players and the org not being able to find a possible substitute, the partner (who may have initially designated a player as a sub? I'm not sure) can lend the other org that player. Riot also mentioned that the partners can also work closer in content, but i don't think DSG is doing that.
Not exactly, players from an affiliate team can move between both teams almost freely, kind of like an NBA 2way contract if you know. Famsii this year has been the only example I believe, he played with both UCAM and GX at the same time. Money tho that does depend so it could be very little to none or quite a lot
