It's recency bias. Wait till rnt plays in ascension. Last year, OG won without dropping a single match (bo3 or bo5) and went 0-4 with the greatest achievement being able to take a map out of Bleed.

Probably because not every young guy from that country can afford PCs most play on laptops even those who have, usually get it around 18-21age and u can’t expect them to go grind and go pro in a game that don’t even have scope in SA. I also think current players have experience in FPS shooting game most of pro players from Korea SEA EU Americas have experience in CSGO, Overwatch, Fortnite

Nobody cares enough about the game/gaming. India is a developing nation and most of the player base has "earned" their own gaming PCs via professional jobs. As a kid, you will most probably end up with flagship phone from a Chinese brand and a dinky laptop to fill college forms. It's rare to get a gaming PC as a kid. So most of yhe players start playing at 22 or more, and it's too late by then.

Indonesia is only a bit richer with 1/5th of the population yet they field a team that made it into champions (Boom), the Star player of the previous GE in monyet, and Forsaken and Mindfreak.

Its actually just skill issue

The only Esport we take seriously is chess(dot)com. It takes one champion to convince the parents that a career can be built in a particular game. I have personally never touched mobile gaming.

  1. Make it worthwhile for Indian kids to actually commit to an esport by proving they can be somewhat profitable/stable investment streams.
  2. Then change the culture of studying which has yet to even change for traditional sports.
  3. Find people naturally cracked out of the 2 billion (improvement to scouting)
  4. Get a coach with a long history of t1 or 2 winning
  5. Realize player development is more than just running it down.
    1. End up importing half your players and drop all Indian talent after all the work prior

points 1-5 can never happen in a developing economy with that big of a population. they're already doing 6.

That's my whole point. Those are insurmountable obstacles right now. India is still in its GDP boom and natal industries that are based on leisure are going to be neglected while essential QoL is being elevated. There are also still huge wealth disparities, and an internet infrastructure oriented around mobile coverage. Do I think India can get there? Sure, but it is not, and will not soon likely be a priority. It's why GE depends so much on talent outside the subcontinent.

There is an entirely different culture around gaming in Indonesia rather than India. Different infrastructure with internet cafes being commonplace too.
