He's probably not majority shareholder. Between hirings & fundraising, his shares have probably gotten diluted a lot.

Look at big companies like Twitter, the founder of it, Jack Dorsey, only owns 2.3% of the company (0% once the Elon deal goes through).

Obviously Twitter is way way bigger than G2, but it could give you an idea as to how much founders shares can get diluted

If it was any other mistake could have gone another way but sadly this was too much. He must really love G2 as an org to step down. It's really the only way G2 as an org and brand can be heal in the publics eyes. I've followed league since beginning and Carlos really did make G2 into such a big European esports brand. He created a lot of rivalry in LEC and worlds scene cause g2 are seen as a villian in esports. Really he has done a lot for esports. Seeing him leave is a bit surreal for me.

this industry thrives with attention, negative pr will NOT get you sponsors and good stuff. public perception is important and your source of money basically, it’s just what happens in this kind of business where all eyes are on you, you wont want to ruin your brand. that is why the pr staff even stepped in to remedy the situation but unfortunately carlos the face of g2 just couldnt get off twitter for a second. he could have at least pretended to appease the mob but i guess ego first before business.

still, carlos contributed a lot to the space and i do think this is undeserved.

That is the problem dude. No one should have to pretend to appease the mob. That shit shouldn’t exist. But like you said, the industry strives for this kind of stuff and the whole SJW cancel culture mob doesn’t help. It’s 100% undeserved, all he did was party with someone. He never came out and said anything in support of him lol.

Carlos is the reason why g2 is where it is. Riot is the absolute last company to hold a grudge for stuff like this and you can’t deny that.

Yeah.. I don't know about this one. He fucked up badly considering that it cost them the slot for Valorant franchise league and I can just imagine that many investors and sponsors weren't happy. But damn. I still think this is really harsh punishments all things considered. He still build G2 to be one of the biggest esport orgs in the world. If he just took some time off everyone would have forgotten this in no time if I'm honest. What he did wasn't that bad in the end of the day.

A shame but it was expected given the backlash. The argument that he got fired because he was partying is totally wrong. It’s not about him partying, it was about WHO he was partying with. Then he doubled down on it, which was the real kicker.

Cancel culture wasn’t a factor of this, this was an executive decision. Sponsors, shareholders, and even employees of G2 don’t want their CEO hanging around with a highly controversial person; it hurts the reputability and credibility of G2.

Also G2’s credibility is super hurt because they literally missed out on a partnership deal (which, keep in mind, they were considered a shoo-in for) due this incident. A lot of people were affected by this, not just Carlos.

Well Actions have Consequences.... especially if u are the CEO of a well known and beloved e-Sports org....the market that runs on fans and sponsors. Him partying with that asswipe was a PR disaster and also coated G2 millions. They can't get be deal back but they ig this is them making sure they don't lose a lot of sponsors and fans
