Can Kru make the reverse scenario of last year ? Not loosing a single game in regular season, then loose every single game in playoffs, But still qualify to champions because of point and winning it ?

It is, and that's may mean how bad NA team are good to detect promising rookie :/

Can we please just take in account the card are reshuffled in almost every region, and it's nearly impossible to know who is the best team or region right now ? We can bark on every team or region right now, but the true it's for... Maybe the first time in Valorant history, they are something like... 20 teams that can win Champion. EMEA got fucking 9 teams with 1 win gap, Am is also really stacked especially alpha, and top 3 in omega may be strong when they play intragroup, and APAC got at least 3 teams that are consistent and that was in the past not that far winning an international event, even China, they still look shaky but on LoL they progressed really fast (But I think it's too early for this year... Except if everyone is washed, as a lot of people seems to think). Can we please enjoy that and just admit we know nothing, being excited about every event and game making us mush closer from the truth.

This year is already amazing, please enjoy it.

In that case he have to pick him, you cant not pick an agent just because your star player is afraid to play his main. Now it make start to feel he is as dumb as me not playing my favorite agent (Viper) because I'm afraid to loose with her and not keeping my positive ratio on her in normal game (I don't do ranked)

If that's true what he need now is a mental coach, he cant perform with that low esteem of himself

  • Be Yay
  • Being best Chamber ever
  • Not being allowed to play Chamber on your own map (Or not wanting to)
  • See opponent pick Chamber
  • Loose your own map against opponent with Chamber
  • Win their map where none has peak Chamber
  • Decider map, you aren't still allowed to pick Chamber (Or not wanting to)
  • They peak Chamber
  • They steamroll you

If they really loose Lotus, this guy has all the right in the world to do the biggest mental breakdown in the world...

Erratum on the fact he might be the reason why Chamber isnt picked

What is fun is that even if they win everything now, 4-1 might not be enough to qualify in playoffs, :/

Please Riot, start with intra group next year to solve that kind of problem

I love the slot repartition, and I really love how almost every 4 major league have the same amount of people in it :

  • Americas : 1M0
  • China : 1M4
  • APAC : 0M9 (Without South Asia that has no PC culture Yet, and no player in the T1 except 1)
  • EMEA : 0M9 (Without Middle East and Africa that has no PC culture Yet, and no player in the T1)

Every region should have roughly the same size and every region should have the same number of slot regardless of their performance (If not that will create a snowball effect, best region will have more international experience and become stronger, and we all love the fact that every region can win Valo)

Maybe one day Africa, Middle-East, South Asia will have a sufficient PC culture to become a T1 region on their own (And this day I hope they will have the same amount of spot of the other T1 region despite being trash for the moment), but while that's not the case, the distribution is perfect. Maybe in 50 years when population of Asean will boom and China-Korea-Japan will demographically collapse, we will have to redraw Asian border and have and move China, Korea and Japan team in the same region (East Asia, as in GC), and letting more spot to Asean, but for the moment this is perfect as it is.

"According to a researche [sic] at Cambridge University, it doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only importent [sic] thing is that the first and last letter be at the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself but the word as a whole."

That's probably why you though intragroup before crossgroup, because that would have to make sense, and your brain has reorder the schedule to have the schedule make sense. :C

2 group.

  • Stage 1 you play other group --> Top 1 got to double elim playoff, #2 and #3 play one game to go to double elim playoff (They are basically in a playin).
  • Stage 2, you play your group --> Every win in Stage 1 count --> Top #1 from each group go to playoffs in double elim, 4 best team that isn't top 1 of group go playin and need to win 1 game to qualify to playoff.
posted 8 months ago

I really like the idea to have a playoff in the middle of single round robin to go to MidMasters. But I really don't understand why start with crossgroup BEFORE intragroup, it would make so mush sense to do the countrary. Imagine if every Alpha team endup in 6-0 ? Does that mean you can not be qualified even if you end up being 6-0 ?

The format would be so neat and make so mush more sense if we start with intragroup before crossgroup, that would mean team that compete for the same spot splays against each other adding more stakes to one game. Pllus with intragroup frist we are sure we have a fair rank inside the group where team got some loose before getting eliminated.

Really I really see no reason why doing crossgroup before intragroup, do you guys have an idea why ?

Yup the main shaky point is the transition between 2022 and 2023 that make region predictable or unpredictable, in 2024 even if they have a huge turnover in 2024 for Gen, it's still the same structure, so we already know in 2023 that the structure wasnt a bad structure and if they try to upgrade the roster we can trust.

It's a little bit the hammer theory, if you have a hammer and change the sleeve it's still the same hammer, and if you change the stone the next year it's still the same hammer even if they are nothing in common with the hammer you had at the beggening of the year, if you keep the roster but change the structure it's still the same continuity so we are able to predict, if next year you keep the structure but change big part of the roster it's still somewhat predictable.

Because that the same team since 2021 :
PRX --> PRX
Secret --> Bren
Talon --> X10/Xerxia
DRX --> Vision Striker
Zeta --> Zeta

Gen.G --> More or less O2S
RRQ --> Mix BOOM/ONIC
T1 --> New
Global --> New
DFM --> New (But now CR whish is historically one of the 2 best JP team)
Bleed --> Kinda reshuffle but still same org

So it's easier to predict than in EU where they are a lot of change every year.

I fear that if the name of this thread are right, it's gonna be 3 FNC win X.X
But your enthusiasm is still a good thing, I suppose. I believe next year will be better with 2 year for stabilization after the great shuffle.

posted 8 months ago

TBH I don't have a lot of trust for EMEA after last year. How a team that couldn't do better than a top 6 un Turkey in Split 1 2022 (Ok they won Split 2 and finals, but theyre where no stake in Split 2 and they where not that dominant), could be able to qualify to world ? Did they just step up insanely during Split 2 ? Or did EMEA great shuffle just make the region downgrade for at least a year ?

I'm trying to do a timeline in every region, and :

  • SA got great stability (Among the 6 best team of LATAM/BR, 5 where selected with really few changes),
  • NA was not stable during 2022 but teams has picked almost ever team that went to a inter event (Xset fuse with Sent, where they picked 2 player and coach, NRG acquire Optc choir, The guard staying together in T2 and being able to qulify, C9 and 100T that went to inter in 2021 and EG that was already in T1 where qualified),
  • JP pick the best team and create a bad team that will later take a T2 team
  • KR pick the 2 best team (GenG kinda end with On slayer choir), plus the best LoL team ever.
  • ASE just pick the 3 historically best team in the region plus a team that just went to champion (Plus an Indian team)
  • While us EU, had a huge shuffle where 4 teams that went to inter among the 7 where selected (And it's only in case you count G2). Only Fnc and TL where a structure that went to inter that got a slot in the leage, Navi acquire FPX, Giants get staff and 2 players for G2 (This was kinda my rule to consider a team acquire a roster : 3 people from the team player or a coach), and we lost Supermassive, wish wasn't a huge loss, the 1st champion ever and the master 3 winners that both consistently went threw playoff, and in exchange we kept BBL and somewhat OG-LDN-UTD and Koi that 2 player and a coach where acquire by Vit and KOI, and we end with 2 new team TH (That took 2 player of G2 + one of their sub), one team that kept the choir of their T2 team that didn't went to finals, and a full T2 Turkish team with almost 0 change.

So I don't know if it's this lack of stability, but I'm not sure that we are ready to compete with the top except obviously Fnc and maybe Navi/TL if they are in a good mood. (And obviously I hope i'm wrong and EU will be stacked ad fuck, with all those change maybe it will not be that bad.)

posted 9 months ago

Why do we start stage 1 with a cross group format instead of intra-group format ? That make absolutely no sense, that mean at the end of stage 1 we can have 5 teams that end with 6-0 and 2 of them won't go to playoff. (Or maybe they are something I don't understand something)

It won't happen, but that could be the first time in history that a team can be eliminated without loosing any game.

Hello all,
If you wonder how many team they are in every Premier contenders region and their relation with T2 region, I made stat for this (At the end of the 3rd map, after 4th map some region may have a little bit more team). To me it's an interesting stat because it gives us some demographics data. Usually it's 1 server = 1 premier league = T2 region, but they are some exceptions :

  • Keep in mind NA is split in East and West giving us more precision on the data.
  • Spain, Portugal and Italia are mixed in only in one premier region (Because they are only 1 serv), but we can make some research to guess exactly wish team is from what region (Flag of player on tracker, vlr, structure etc).
  • For Premier Asia it is even harder, it regroups 6 T2 league and they are a lot of teams in the ladder, it was a lot of work to figure out where does come from every team and in wish T2 scene they will go if they win. (Not all of them is 100% sure)

MENA (Keep in mind that all those servers are close from each other, and in Europe almost everyone speak english meaning they are a lot of team that didn't hire player based on country or native language and those team tend to play in a more central server like Frankfurt for exemple, this is why this stats are way less interesting than stat in pacific and americas) :

  • North (London/Stockholm) : 58
  • East (Warsaw) : 40
  • DACH (Frankfurt) : 75
  • FR (Paris) : 59
  • ME (Bahrain) : 17
  • TR (Istanbul) : 26
  • IBIT-ES (Madrid) : 22
  • IBIT-PT (Madrid) : 5
  • IBIT-IT (Madrid) : 2 (Keep in mind that Madrid isn't the closest server from Italia, wish mean Italian team might prefer to play in DASH or France, Italia is placed here probably because 1 year ago Italia was still a part of IBIT region that is now dissolved, and Italia dosn't have a server yet.)

Americas :

  • BR (São Paulo) : 47
  • LAS (Santiago/"Bogotá") : 38 (It's kinda weird, in T2, Columbia is part of LAN, not LAS, but wiki frame it in LAS so maybe it's a typo, I have find Columbian and Venezuelan team in LAN but not in LAS)
  • LAN (Mexico City/Miami/Chicago) : 53 (T2 LAN region start from Mexico and end in Ecuador/Columbia)
  • NAE (Ashburn/Atlanta/Dallas/Chicago ): 110
  • NAW (Oregon/California/Dallas/Chicago ) : 41

APAC :

  • KR (Seoul) : 36
  • JP (Tokyo) : 60
  • OCE (Sydney) : 47
  • SA (Mumbai) : 50
  • Asia-TWHK (Hong Kong/Singapore) : 13
  • Asia-VN (Singapore/Hong Kong) : 12 (1 of team is Cambodian, for geographical region and cultural region, they will probably go in VN if they win)
  • Asia-TH (Singapore/Hong Kong) : 29 (Lot of team that I was only 80% sure ended classified in Thailand, so maybe the number is a little bit more overestimated, but I think it's because Thai tend to put less their flag in tracker)
  • Asia-PH (Singapore/Hong Kong) : 16 (Easiest part to do, almost all of them have their flag in Tracker)
  • Asia-ID (Singapore/Hong Kong) : 21 (Not a lot of problems here)
  • Asia-MYSG (Singapore/Hong Kong) : 21 (MYSG is probably the default T2 region for any team that will speak english but not their native language, because English is endemic in Singapore (96%), 19 team are really from MYSG, 1 team got players from Myanmar but the structure is from Singapore)
  • Asia-???? : 5 (4 team are from Mongolia, I have no idea where Mongolian player will play, and that also raise the question of eastern Russian player, for ping reason they can't really play on EMEA server maybe Singapore is the best choice because almost everyone speak English, but it's really far, another option would be to play in Japan since a lot of eastern russian player plays in Japan but the main problem is that Japan isn't part of Premier server, and I'm not sure Riot can transfer them. For the last team [NDG] I wasn't able to have an enough level of confidence to class them somewhere, I suspect them to be Korean, not sure if they missclicked or if Riot can move them in case they win, or if they will have to play in Taiwan or Singapoure)

Because Premier Asia is a huge mess I think i'll do a post about where did I locate every team in every T2 scene so if I have mistake people could correct me (Will probably do that next week, with a list of team that are already qualified)

If I understand correctly, winner of playin will go against winner of group A except if winner of playin is the 2nd of group A, right ?
So in that Scenario:

  • DRX would have 100% chance to not play against PRX if they go through playin
  • DRX would have 33% chance to not play against PRX if they finish first

Your stats are correct if the pairing is random but didn't they say it wasn't the case ?

Yup thats also a possibility where Sentinels gets indirectly get nerf by Skye's nerf, Dive/Vip/Smoke mandatory and then Vision+Flash (Even duelflash)

posted 9 months ago

Skye Nerf = Now we may need 2 initiators instead of one, and since they are some map where you can play 0 sentinels (Bind and Split), and you might need a Diver+Viper+Smoke, you can have a situation where Skye and the Sentinel, get replaced by Fade/Breach.
That's why I feel Skye nerf = Indirect Sentinel nerf (the class, not the team), it's not a huge nerf obviously, but still a small one.

4 games per stages if you are in the group of 5, so if you are bad and unlucky you will do 2 game in the Lockin, 4 games in split 1, and 4 game in split 2. so a total of 10 Bo in the year. For a comparison, in master Copenhagen 2022, FPX made 9 BO.

posted 9 months ago

Interesting POV but I kinda disagree with that, in League of Legends it's a curse, nobody care about T2 NA scene (Because it's the same proximity as tier 1) and they have a lot of issue finding new player (they import a lot), if you compare with EU, they are a lot of team and plenty more of occasion to new player to blossom, and people enjoy T2 because they have a sense of proximity.
It's a little bit different for Valorant because since T1 NA doesn't exist, so T2 NA might a little bit fill the gap, but still, not having enough spot in T2 might be a long term problem for new player because not enough possibility to prove themself, plus more T2 have proximity, more people can care about it and create rivalries, for exemple France vs Spain rivalries is a huge thing, and I'm sure a West coast - East coast rivalry could be an amazing thing in Valorant.
Maybe a compromise would be to have West group, East group, but mixed playoffs ?

Also, do you think next year we will be 2 groups of 6, or one unique group or 8 or 10 ?

posted 9 months ago

Hello, this year premier mode will be the way to qualify in Tier 2 scene, and every region except NA got "One Premier zone = at least 1 challenger league" (It's almost 1 zone = league, except of IBIT [Iberia-Italia], and "Asia" [Asean+'System2China']), the only exception is America have 2 zones West and East, (both zone feature Chicago and Dallas), but only 1 challenger league. If you count every team in Premier Contenders the biggest region have around 30 teams in contenders, only Asia got 54 (but it's a supraregion that have 6 T2 league, so that mean they have basically 9 team per T2 league, so that doesn't really count), LAN got 42 (Maybe one day Central America and Bolivarian states will be split in 2), and NA got 65 ! (42 in east, 20 in west, maybe east should split into Northern/Southern)

So NA is currently by far the biggest tier 2 region, and is already split in two groups of 6, but because every T2 scene got the same number of spot they dont have more ascension team than other american region (If you consider Latam being only one region, but I admit they a weird in an in-between status). To me having 2 group split with no identity is kinda weird, and I would rather see 2 distinct leagues (NAW-NAE) that will both have 2 slots in ascension and letting LAN/LAS have both 2 more team in ascention, so every ascension in every region would have 10 teams. If Riot plan to split NA this year, that would also explain why we have no info about T2 NA yet (At least I didn't find any, it has no liquipedia page yet), it's because a it's a process that take time, and they are potentially still doing a selection for the 2 leagues. Another weird fact is that last year they were 12 NA team, but during the relegation tournament, no team from T3 where allowed, the tournament only feature 4 bottom NA team and 2 of them where drop out, meaning for 2024 it would probably have 10 teams like in France or Spain, maybe they were considering to have only one group for 2024 ? What is even more weird is that on VLR page, some teams are voided only 4 team are announced, even if 10 teams were planned at the end of last year, (M80, Oxy, MoistxShopify, Turtle), what happened to the 6 other ? Well of course the Guard got promoted, G2 kinda disband after they acquire TGRD sport, Moist-Shopify fused (even if some ex Mogul seems to stay and maybe they are finding a new sponsor or brand and stay next year), but what about TSM, FaZe and ORE ? Are they disbanding ? Changing sponsor ? But even if thoo 4 are here, that mean only 8 team planned this year. Because of this year instability, they are many possibilities and maybe it's the occasion for Riot to change T2 NA for the future
So what are the possibility I can think of for this year (And I'm not even sure Riot have 100% choose yet, explaining why they are no announce) :

  • Status quo : Riot replace the teams and nothing change for this year, and we have 2 group of 6.
  • Solo group : Perfect moment to stop having 2 groups and having only 8/10 teams this year (Even if 10 team for a region that big may be not enough)
  • Temp solo group : 8 team for first split, for split 2, we come back to status quo with 12 teams in 2 group with team from premier being promoted.
  • Early NA split : NA will split in 2 right at the beginning of next season, and selection process isn't over yet.
  • Rushed NA split : NA split 1 will be after the end of Premier (Early marsh), and split in 2 group of 6 or 8, letting premier team fill the remaining spots (Weird but not that impossible, since Korea almost start 1 week before the end of premier)
  • Late NA split : Start with one group of 8 for split 1, ask them if they want to be west or east next split, and split NA in NAW-NAE for split 2 giving the remaining slot to premier team (as it is supposed to be)

What possibility do you think it's the more realist for next year ?
Do you think Riot plan to separate NA in two also in challenger league ?
Do you wish they split NA in 2 ?
If they split, how many slots do you think every region of America will have ?
Would you like a Southern US Premier for 2025 to make West/East more balance ?
