if FPX loses the next map (unless they lose 13-1) NaVi, FPX and GMB are making it through
pro players are the literal frontline of finding out what is actually viable. the whole world follows what pro teams run b/c they would rather trust what they see the pros do. so yea, kayo buffs made him meta but there would be no meta changes if nobody played anything new my guy. There is a time and a place for testing certain things but they've had their time to develop what they are using now.
And if u need a broad example of meta testing, just look at the difference in pickrate of sova in EU vs NA. nothing got changed with sova yet the meta did. (ratio below which region got it right.)
"meta changes" its just developers overbuff or overnerf something. Its not bcs some pro player played it in pro match agent, so developers saw it and made discussion how to make agent viable as you wrote. Even opposite. They just saw high/low pickrate stats of ranked over and over so they decided to overbuff or overnerf someone with big/low pickrate instead of trying to make real balance, thats it. Only good things they did were connected with economy of weapons, abilities and ultimates.
Also idk why you trying to describe importance of innovation to guy with FPX flair(team that played with a lot innovation comps in 2021). It is all may sounds cool but in reality...
Team that won first int lan wasnt fnatic my friend. Not even in EU first strike/masters.. Individual skill and good basics always owns weird comps and hardstrats even in this game. Simplier you playing - less mistakes you doing. G2 won 8 tournaments in a row in 2020 just because of skill diff. Sentinels skill diffed everyone in first half of 2021. Gambit won EMEA and M3 just because of skill diff (you can understand it because of how they won even in their permaban map without any preps. They just played the most simplest comp ever and own everyone with their individual level). Acend, Champions winner of 2021 on the final map in the grand final won against Gambit with Split meta of 2020: omen, cypher, raze, sage and jett, btw all nerfed since 2020 and not even in meta of 2021, but what happend? Were acend innovaters? What happend with them against guild when they tryed new crazy stuff? Players dont know how to react while they are playing something weird.
You can test and experiment with whatever you want in scrims, but when its time of official game choice of winner is consistent, comfort and confidence not just element of surprise. No matter how much your favourite agents nerfed matter only is this comp comfortable enough for you and your team.
Like said Bruce Lee "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who had practiced one kick 10,000 times".
We are exiting the tunnel of "overbuff overnerf" patches now (imo) with having any controller be viable, flex picks galore, no solid 1 comp meta really, etc. Surprise factor obviously is a weighted choice over the potential loss of comfortability, but its unlikely any team worth talking about is changing comps off a whim. Funny enough, Ascend's comps honestly pushes the concept that pro teams are where viability is tested. Astra was dominant, ascend didnt give a fuck and managed to make it work flawlessly on bind. The comfort factor comes with any comp u like running as a team. Time is not everything otherwise updates wouldn't even matter.
Can also tell you that just because a comp is "more successful" does not explicitly mean it is more comfortable for the team.
On the same note, a comp can fail with 4 players comfortable and 1 not being up to par on an agent they need to be able to play. I am making this point because when a team's comp choices are noted you are going to have a very hard time accurately guessing how "uncomfortable" it actually is for the players. Tiny errors can lose whole rounds; singular rounds can economically lose you a whole match. This isn't a tailored argument for any team's recent history its just the broad reality that goes into the decisions.
You wouldnt be saying this if TL were winning, this game is still very new and there are coaches who wanna expt with diff comps. Remember TL were the first team to do a no duelist comp in heven n literally owned FPX in that match n 13-0 OXG. Sliggy is no dumb that he would make a weird comp with no strats.
