They have been friends for years. They can make jokes to each other. I am asian and I have friends that make "racist" jokes to me all the time and I laugh with them. The sexism shit is bad yes, but I have no problem with this. I agree that he shouldn't have said it on stream, but that doesn't mean he's a racist. Please stop using twitter my fellow VLRians.
And I'm not defending JasonR, but people are really targeting tf out of him now even to the point of harassment. Stop being soft and trying to stretch things and calling him racist so you can put more dirt on him.
Downvote me to hell idgaf

Looks like Wardell did get a bit offended. In which case, JasonR should apologize.
sigh let me explain this for the 70th time.
No i'm not okay with racism. But let's say for example, one of my close indian friends jokingly asks if it's hard to see things because my eyes are so small. Then I say, well at least my breath doesn't smell like curry every day or some other shit (unfunny example that makes no sense, I know). Then we both laugh it off and go back to what we are doing. Does any of that seem like we are trying to be racist to each other? Friends can make sensitive jokes to each other, you know.
In this case, it's different. JasonL is on a livestream with thousands of people watching and Wardell clearly takes offense to his joke. So JasonR isn't close enough or didn't establish that boundary with Wardell before he made the joke. Therefore, JasonR is in the wrong. I know people on vlr might take what I"m saying the wrong way, but that's fine. I'll just let them continue thinking like that.
If I said something wrong, please let me know.
I know what you mean. Everything you said could be summarized under the term "confidence" or "trust".
Every time you make some dark humor joke, you take some risks. If your friend trust you, he won't get offended. So the risk you took was minimal. He, most likely, won't get offended.
Now, apply the same experiment but, this time, with a person you are slightly not that familiar with. Now, if you say some dark humor joke, the risk of him getting offended is higher. So, maybe, it wasn't the best idea.
The same applies if you add multiple people, seeing you through your livestream into the equation, many people would get offended as well, because they don't hold a trust-relationship with the one making the joke. And this is exactly what happened.
I don't think JasonR is NECESSARILY a racist, we don't really know his intentions. But definitely, he took a really high risk, because he doesn't have confidence with every person watching him.
In my opinion, it's more of a lack of a particular social skill more than anything. We shouldn't conclude that he is a racist person.
Anyway, it's ok that you showed your way of thinking, never let yourself be overwhelmed by a number of downvotes or upvotes, as long as you are confidently expressing your opinion and be open-minded enough to admit you might be wrong, like every person should.
Holy shit a good response that understands what I'm saying. Thank god.
I 100 percent agree with you. I do wish that JasonR apologized once he realized that Wardell wasn't comfortable with the joke instead of doubling down. That part was pretty weird.
Thanks for the advice bro, I'll be sure to follow it. I'm always willing to change my mind if the other person makes a sensible argument.
well your first post was clearly saying they are friends and jasonR is not in the wrong.
if you changed your mind, thats fine.
Also, since jasonR and wardell are pretty popular, even little joke can offend alot of people. They might laugh it off but to other audiences, it can be offensive. Imagine if it was two friends who were white and black. White guy calls black dude some racist remarks and black guy laughs it off. The black guy can understand and move on because they are friends but to some audiences, that can feel extremely offensive and JasonR needs to realise that and think before he jokes around with those 'stereotypes'. It honestly does not matter if wardell was offended or not.
Holy fuck you kids have some very privileged lives if small things like this actually offend you. Here's an advice, find something actually valorant to fight for and stop wasting your time and giving value to meaningless things. There is actual evil in this world and you're willfully blind to it by wasting your time on shit like this.
