well this is masters not champions so that wouldnt really make sense. "two teams qualify through challengers main event, then we have another tournament right after to determine the last teams to qualify" would just be dumb
thie one only says that there will be 2 slots for na in masters 1, not that there'll be 16 teams in there in total, unless i missed something

Is it really about deserving slots? If it was purely performance Japan wouldn't have any. I doubt NA 'deserving' two slots is the reason why they have two slots.

this is so biased. this match was literally the grand final for Champions, the biggest and most important tournament of the entire year. if it was any other team, the number of viewers would be equal or even higher. if it was an NA team, the number of views could potentially rival LoL viewership, especially if it's between two rival teams (Sen vs G2 as an example).

Even at Champions they did not get shat on, Sentinels were 2 rounds away from getting out of their mega-stacked group in 1st place, C9 made it to quarters playing close series against Liquid and Fnatic and Envy, the one team that did underperform, barely lost to X10...
they underwhelmed compared to expectations but they absolutely didnt get shat on. the only region that got shat on at champs is JP and arguably brazil
good question. minor regions like SEA go through two masters events doing jack shit and keep their slots for champs, and Brazil goes through the entire year doing nothing and still gets 2 slots, NA has ONE underwhelming tournament and they lose a slot? absolute joke

if they go back to a 10-team event like reykjavik ill have lost all hope in Riot. and also even if they do they should give a BR slot to EMEA 100%
Yeah, I mean, NIP, MIBR, Liquid all invested on the brazilian scene. And also the biggest FF orgs invested on the val scene, with one of them building a dream team, plus we have VK from last year, 2 slots thinking about viewership and potential from the new teams is ok
i dont mind BR keeping 2 slots, but if NA loses a slot just for an underwhelming Champions then BR absolutely should lose one as well

definitely not direct to OCE since they go through APAC. i really doubt theyre giving APAC an extra slot just because it includes OCE now, since only one OCE team qualifies to APAC in the first place. even then i wouldnt want NA to lose a slot for that, NA is almost certainly way better than OCE

the only reason NA got 2 slots is Masters 1 maybe only has 10/12 teams. even though NA sucks at champions they perform at masters 1 and 2 so no shot they just remove the slot because of champs.
Maybe if its streamers championship then more slots in normal esport SA, CIS, TR, EU, KR, BR > NA
they probably used champs as metric, comparing the expectations between BR and NA scene for champs:
NA were the only region to play toe-to-toe against EMEA, so they're expected to AT LEAST get playoffs, but they crumbled
BR were playing really bad and the expectations for them were low, maybe 1 win for each team and maybe 1 team to playoffs
BR played well against Acend, Gambit and Sentinels (the two finalists and the seed 1 from NA), got 2 wins but could've won all matches (except against SEA)
NA played bad against EMEA, almost lost to BR and crumbled to LATAM/SEA, which can be "unacceptable" for a major region who won the first international and achieved finals in the second one.
Whatever, NA just has to win. I really hope its not a 10 team tourney that would suck.
