simon fucked up and was immature about the situation, but kk smoggy and nobody writing whole ass essays basically making sure he never gets another team was worse imo. like why is this guy saying shit like “how many people die in their 20s and regret it for the rest of their lives”? ur an esports player talking to ur ex teammate dawg, not fucking aristotle…
imagine if after marved crashed out on nrg his teammates came out and said that hes lazy and emotionally unstable, like for what bro, hes already off the team.
the core issue is that its understandable (even tho its childish) for him to look at his teammates and wonder why hes being treated differently. its not that hes saying nobody is dogshit because he doesnt aimtrain either, its more like “why me”
Imagine your teammate not trying to his best ability, not communicating in-game and telling his teammates and management after a bad game that he wants to be benched.
Then, after he gets benched, he frames EDG as the oppressor and directs all hate towards EDG and Jieni, an inexperienced and upcoming player; you know how brutal Chinese fans are. He leaks conversations with management, effectively lighting a fire under the organisation. They tell him they will help him find a team, but he doesn't stop this behaviour.
They have to put an end to this somehow, and there will be public outrage and concerns regarding "what happened to EDG S1mon, did EDG kick him so they can put all the blame on him?"
Thus, they decided to make statements explaining the situation. I agree; maybe it is too harsh to have every single person outright publicly complain and scold him, but they had to create a conclusion to this drama somehow.
I don't think he will be teamless for that long. He won the biggest Valorant event of 2024. Undoubtedly, some teams in China will still want to try him, especially since he has apologised. Also, he still seems to have maintained a decent relationship with the EDG players based on content from recent streams.
People always love comparing controversies to previous similar situations without understanding what actually happened- no this isnt like how marved crashed out OR how NRG framed verno~
Simon leaked private dms to his fans and started hate against the org and players first accusing them of not trying hard enough and when the other players come out to disprove this apparently its a attack on simon lol? Swear the valo fanbase never thinks for themselves and will just see

the thing i think ppl miss is that simons point in leaking dms was the show how incompetent and unfair edgs management are. comparing himself to other players isnt to shit on them, its to show how edg have unfair expectations of him.
the fucked part is how edg have turned this into player vs player, like kk nbd smoggy should never be posting together abt this, it doesnt concern them at all. Its just weird that you win champs w a player and then turn ur back on him like that, if anything they should be middlemanning between management and simon
I honestly can't say yes or no, so I'm not a reliable source of information. I vaguely remember he met Jieni on the opposing side in a ranked game on stream, and he says he needs to outperform him in that ranked game and something else that came off as a bit targeted/fueling some hate based on my impression of that video.
But there is definitely hate targeted at Jieni, and he didn't put a stop towards it, so I think he is definitely at fault here. The least I would do in his position would be to say that you shouldn't hate on the new kid, that's just some basic professionalism expected from a professional IMO, given he has a very impressionable young audience.
I DO think it was weird how they had the players fkin making statements in that way, and I kind of agree with you on that part, but all the obsessed fans want word from the players and want to gain insight so bad, maybe management feels pressured to do it this way.
agreed, and i dont really care one way or another about this situation. like i said, simon is wrong for leaking dms and not stopping the hate raids, and edg are wrong for how they handled this too. i still want edg to succeed (mostly chichoo tbh) but just wanted to share more of simons perspective since it seems pretty one sided rn
they asked Simon to play yoru but when he couldn’t understand the agent, they replaced him with jieni.
people are supporting Simon now because looking at his tracker, he has 27 matches of yoru compared to kk’s 23, he has more matches on other agents that he is practicing as well.
people are mad at edg because of their loss to xlg showed the weakness of their yoru comp which wasn’t Simon’s fault
jieni was brought in to play yoru aswell yet he is playing initiator and doing no good.
