Why still Asuna

I have massive respect for nadeshot being able to keep Asuna. From what I heard, part of the reason was that he was smart and vocal on the team. But man, there is so much better talent on T2 but to keep asuna is crazy.. Especially when there was a chance to pick up bones

I can tell you don't actually watch NA Tier 2 much because Bones just turned 17

I'm confused though you said there was a chance to pickup bones? Why would they pickup bones out of everyone in T2?

Probably because he is good at hitting jumping shots idk

If you think Asuna is a problem, I can tell you have not watched the games.

definitely is a problem. Mid entry to go negative on kd and first bloods almost every game. Cryo is the only reason they are winning games tbh

the space that Asuna makes on neon/raze, fk/fd or not, is often the reason why it is easy for his teammates to close out rounds

#14

sure he takes space but that's the ONLY thing he does. even so, he overheats way too much its crazy. there is a way to take space without going -15 in first bloods. No other team has a player that does what he does for a reason. and no, whenever he doesn't go duelist they actually look cleaner.

#13

and a big reason why Cryo wins these games is because Asuna takes space

Cryo is actually playing better without Asuna on a dive lmao.

#17

probably because Asuna is a better initiator than he is duelist but whatever suits your agenda

So after 4 years they finally realized he isn't a good duelist player? He barely has any experience on initiator. Clearly they have no idea what to do with him.

This just exposes more that you know nothing about him he’s been playing initiator for the last 3 years lmao, he’s an entry similar to CS. Cryo is the awp player. Duelists don’t always apply to role it’s very flexible that’s the point of valorant

Talking about Asuna? Dude has been 90% duelist for 4 years? Can you link me the VLR ur looking at please

Not every duelist can play like an initiator and even so, Asuna does not. He takes first contact very frequently and overheats, a real ini player would not.

he has been playing initiator to a good standard since before franchising, you are just exposing yourself as someone who doesnt watch the games

Objectively he is a duelist player. The stats are right there. Doesn't matter if he plays a good initiator when he does go initiator 1 out of 5 times. Clearly 100t want him to play duelist mainly but it isn't working out. This isn't my opinion its a stat please ask me if you need the link to the vlr

he is on a duelist role because of his teammates inability to play raze or neon. Cryo is worth sacrificing Asunas numbers for but if Cryo could play raze then Asuna wouldnt play a single round of duelist

Correct, movement agents fit his ability to gain space and they use that quite well to win games

Thank you. that is my point. His job on the team is to be that raze or neon player. But honestly it doesn't look like it's working out.

It's simply because Asuna is a couple tweaks from being insane. You see glimpses of it in VCT but because he doesn't understand what he's doing, he's super inconsistent with it. You can't trade something like that away. What if another team has the ability to make the tweaks? Then you look like a complete and utter ...........

Question, why every attemp at scrutinizing Asuna's performance face so much resistence?
Like, even if he really have the potential of being a generational player he had several years to reach it and didnt quite get there
If he couldnt do it, maybe some other talent deserves the spot

Cuz he doesn’t play bad enough to justify the amount of scrutiny he gets? Like I get that at some times there are times where he trolls but I don’t see some other duelists on his level that have been around for a while getting the same amount of attention

because he is a good role player and sets up his team well, but gets talked about like he is FNS with screams brain

not every team needs 5 generational aimers, EDG had s1mon, Gen G had lakia, sen had zellsis and sacy, EG had c0m and ethan, FNC had boaster.

putting 5 pure aimers who hit insane clips every match sounds good on paper but has never worked before, you need a guy willing to do the stuff people dont notice (utility, being traded etc)

I 100% agree with this. I remember Saadhak on 2022/23 LOUD, not the most mechanical player but a great IGL who was also capable of getting some important rounds

Maybe its an imaging issue? Like, both fans and those who criticize Asuna still see him like that promising player from the days that he still played with Hiko, not for what he is: a solid, if sometimes inconsistent player

Thing is though you are looking at 2022/2023. You need to have 5 players all with good mechanics. It's the reason G2 are so dominant right now. If you look at current NRG currently or FNC last year or KC recently they struggled with debatably good igls.

Bro what he’s known for his mechanics, movement, intelligence, communication, selfless playmaking. He sacrrifices good stats for his team, being the distraction, jumping around corners, and more

I swear you haters don’t watch any 100t games, his impact is insane

Didn't even mention 100t here or asuna. just talking about in general

G2 is the strongest argument in favour of my points right now, JonahP and trents biggest impact on the game comes through their utility and intelligence which helps leaf, valyn and jawg succeed

This is also fair and true, but while you need 5 players with good mechanics, I dont think you need 5 nuclear bombs, and both Asuna and Saadhak fit this category

it 100% is that people expect him to be the 50 kills on icebox reyna like he was when he came into the scene, but much like TenZ ended up doing, he is most effective when in a supporting role.

I also think the teammates around him arent necessarily an issue, but their agent pool forces him to play subpar agents rather than ones he is best at.

Ive watched every game since 2022, and I can say that Asuna in that time has played fade, skye, kayo, gekko, tejo and yoru to a good standard, even if the sample size isnt too big. The only initiators he isnt great at is breach (who he played) and sova (who he hasnt).

If Cryo could play all duelists and zikz was willing to put eeiu on breach, then we'd be speaking about Asuna as a guy who is a really good initiator, but unfortunately cryo cant play raze or neon particularly well, so Asuna is forced onto Raze and Neon where he just doesnt have the mechanics to play both of those agents well.

I think that Cryos ability to play Yoru could transform 100T if he cleans the util up a bit. They'd look 10x better putting him on Yoru/ Jett or Iso on every map and just running eeiu breach and Asuna tejo, with Boostio on second controller or sentinel
