How do you define what a flex player is now? Flex was generally a flash initiator that played duelist, but I have no clue what defines it now. In early valorant roles fit pretty neatly with 4 players basically playing the same role every map, but now roles feel very flexible with double duelist, controller, initiator and even sentinel being viable.

It feels wrong to say that vitality has 3 flex players, but I’m not sure how else to describe their roles. Also what do you define players like meteor, kai, fengf, and even keiko.

flex elongated means flexible. anyone who can play what their team needs is a flexible player.

Ngl standard roles have kinda died this year, G2 feels like the only top team with really standardized roles

Looking at the teams from Bangkok, EDG, DRX, and G2 all had pretty standard roles, but the rest seemed to have 2-3 players all over the place to fill gaps. In the past we've seen teams with non-standard roles like 2023 EG, 2022 FPX, and even Gambit/M3C, but it does seem like the meta hasn't settled in a way where you can get away with super strict roles.
