I don't think we have in Master (2021) right?
This is in my opinion

Champion Berlin: Kru Esports
Qualified to playoffs by beating Sentinels and beating Fnatic
And take 3rd-4th places

Master Reykjavik: Zeta Division
Zeta Division incredible run lower bracket

Master Copenhagen: Paper Rex
Paper Rex introduced W Gaming and make it to the Grand Final

Champion Istanbul: Loud
Insane play by not losing single matches in playoffs

LOCK//IN Sao Paulo: Fnatic
The Biggest come back of all time dominated Loud 3-2

Master Tokyo: Paper Rex with substitute cgrs
Insane play by cgrs to make the 3rd place happened

Champion Los Angeles: Bilibili Gaming
Bilibili Gaming dominated NRG not once but two

Master Madrid: Paper Rex with Monyet
No jingg No win?? No, Paper Rex does it again.

Master Shanghai: Gen.G
Gen.G not dropping single matches to take the 1st place

Champion Seoul: Edward Gaming
Out of nowhere, Edward Gaming dominated it all and becomes valorant champion

Not a popular opinion but EDG winning champs might be the biggest upset/ surprise ever
GENG on the other hand eh not so much they were clearly very good in kickoff, madrid, and stage 1

For me, trace is more surprising me makes it to playoffs by beating 1st place america and emea 2nd place
Ykr edg is unstoppable now since China league stage 2
but fair enough edg still surprised us to win champion 2024

tokyo has to go to EG, everybody expected them to be grouped even with demon1 confirmed to be at tokyo

the biggest upset in champs 2021 was sen getting grouped by kru and them going toe to toe with gambit

champs 2022 is drx nearly beating optic and owning fpx
masters tokyo is edg because no one rated them and they did well

no? drx was known as a good team who often choked long before that, it was hardly an upset or a surprise

For an actual individual match, it has to be Guild vs OpTic at Masters Copenhagen in 2022. Literally nobody expected it

nobody expected them to make it to second in shanghai especially with a sub with little practice

#42
penpen

they had a sub before that and had very clear fundamentals it was no upset.

#45
penpen

you mean shanghai or champs? cos they got lucky for who they played really and i think TH are great but they did get some easier teams by far. basically always playing a chinese team.

I don’t think we have the same concept of what an upset is. The favorite team winning coming in is not an upset imo, no matter how much they comeback or how many few maps they drop

#31
catNmouse

Shanghai - all the third seeds hogging the top 3, with CN’s second seed FPX playing close games against the finalists. Goes to show that the bye into playoffs and picking your opponents wasn’t as beneficial in the long run

#32

lock in probably goes to secret first rounding liquid no? some people had liquid winning the whole event

Loud 2022 was not an upset they got last place at Copenhagen but they only really had 1 loss that was proof of somewhat bad form against krü since the other match was just a rematch of the most recent grand final they always been good xset was a far bigger upset
