Silly me! Well, f(x) = 2x would work if the series were
1 + 1
2 + 2
3 + 3
4 + 4

But yes, in the case that it is
1 + 1
2 + 2
4 + 4
8 + 8
I would have to implement powers!

Just a little correction, it would be 2 * 2^x or 2^x+1 since the numbers get added with themselves aswell!
